... up the village from the lake. To get anywhere in the village means using the village tracks - translation goat track (if you are lucky). These tracks I are rough - cobblestones or bare earth, and tend to be very steep with lots of steps. We decided to walk up to the piazza and other shops then go to see the castle. From the Tre. Rose it is a set of steps up. Not too bad. Then you reach one of the minor car roads of the village that lead up and ...

... back towards the waterfront, down many stairs and found a cafe for lunch. Of course there was a water view. After lunch we decided we would give Piona a miss - time was getting on and it was a reasonable drive there and back. Instead we thought we would visit the castle on the hill above the village. The Centale station is large but over the week, we've gotten to know it very well! Arriving here from the airport ...

... track to the car - about 250 metres but rough, a little up and down but nothing like the our track to the piazza on the main road. But it does have one very steep set of stairs going under a house that is always a trial. We drive to Bellagio because we can catch the car ferry across the lake and then drive down the lakeside to the village of Agrengo. We decide to park the car in a real car parking area near the church. It is only a short walk for the boys and the girls are ...

... drinking, reading, and generally playing rich european socialite lifestyles - which, I must say, we do rather well. It was a bit bothersome though raising our glasses to the tourists every time a ferry went past. The pic's speak for themselves! Just off to the local restaurant for dinner tonight - review to follow. A bit nervous about negotiating all those steps in the dark, on the way ...
