We're on our way to Italy for the next month and stopped for the night in Bellinzona in the Swiss Alps, we are only an half hours drive from Lake Lugano which we'll visit tomorrow. The first snow of the year fell last night, but I don't think anyone here gets to excited about it, as most of the hotels seem to be closed until the 4th December!

Our hotel served a wonderful breakfast buffet with the gorgeous view of the lake. The lake was cut by a glacier and is 1200 feet deep. It's a beautiful teal blue color and there are swans and ducks all around. ... doomed to run back to the hostel. We grabbed the brolly and went for a walk down the lake front and decided to get some food from a fancy restaurant for our lunch. The place was fancy and the price tag definitely matched the food that came out. We ordered a starter of seafood platter, none of which was deep fried. The octopus came out in small strips and the calamari was tender and chewy. They had squid which was cut into paper thin strips which had a taste to die for. Next up ...

... amount of wood and logs that had been washed down the mountains side into the lake. On arrival at Como we had cheese and meat platter to share with wine (hot chocolate for Stu!) before a quick gelato. Como is very stylish, a little like Cambridge by a lake.
