Check "climb the falls" off our bucket list

... the rock climbing on Saturday, if not sooner.

Supper was in the dining room again and was a surf and turf theme. Another amazing meal. Our waiter, Ernesto, is just awesome and really entertaining. I think he gets a real kick out of the kids and likes to show them tricks with flicking spoons into glasses and telling them jokes. Our assistant waitress is really nice too. She just started her first day on this cruise, so it took her a couple days to really get into the swing ...

No!! We don't want a taxi....

The ship docks at Ochos Rios in Jamaica so we decided to just do a little shopping onshore .Jamaica is a fairly poor country so competition is very strong for any sort of business that they can get. After you leave the ship it's a kilometre walk down to a few shopping centres. About 15 different people asked if we wanted a taxi and then once in the stores the store ...

Port of Call for the big cruise ship

Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.

No Problem Mon!

... to view the buffet style food, but we decided to walk around the local market area instead. Sat in chairs next to the pool area and put our feet in but the water was too cold to swim in. The beach area was fumed with exhaust from the jet ski, and he was getting more vocal to get our attention, so we then walked to the hammocks. We tried very hard not to take a nap in fear of missing the bus back to the ship. We ...

Jamaica

We arrived at Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Tuesday after two days at sea. The last two days at sea had been filled with good times and it had been smooth sailing. We looked out from our balcony and thought how beautiful the waters and port were. The weather was sunny with some clouds and the day would be pleasantly warm. We had planned a shore excursion of going on a zip-line through the ...

Italian Charm with a Caribbean vibe.

... is wonderfully entertaining, and the food is very good.

Our favorite by far, has to be El Capitano. Manager & Italian chef, Federico Discalzi has has created a menu that is extraordinary. Probably the best Italian Restaurant in the entire Sandals Chain. You can easily make a meal form the antipasta bar alone. Be sure to try the stuffed Calamari if you enjoy seafood.

The bars and bar staff are all excellent as ...

The Joy of a Runner's High

... also a huge contributor to the high spirits in their efforts at the water and aid stations at Mile 5, 7, and 9. Big Thanks to my Ochi running buddy who also successfully complete his half-marathon. Finally, for the constant support from my family and friends (you know who you are) that have been behind me in this, my appreciation is beyond expression. Many thanks to you all. In Peace. Jennifer

Back to reality

... to see me. My first day back to work was not easy. My momentum was low and I had a hard time settling back into work. I'm sure it will take a couple of days to readjust and resettle. I've received some advice and perspective from friends and family, which has helped the process. It is more difficult than I thought it would be. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm back. I hope that you are all well. Peace Jennifer

A Jamaican Dance

... deal, but not a good deal, and by no means what I wanted. I wanted the bookends. It was my move. I had to tread cautiously, attempt to read his mind. "How low would he go"? "What is his breaking point"? These are the prying questions the skilled negotiator queries. Doubt, the champion negotiator's arch-nemesis. Always spitting negativity. "He's reading you like a book." "You're going to stumble." "Ha! He deals with tourists like you everyday." "He'll eat you for ...

I Came. I Saw. I LEFT!

This was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
