... which still looked fantastic. Consequently I ended up with a thousand scenery shot, sorry about that !
After about 2 hours we hit the border crossing. This would have to be the remotest border crossing ever and they must stay out there as there is no town as such. Anyway the bloke we had was very nice, much better than Biggles in Skagway. This guy didn't even check then RV for hidden Mexicans Oh well next time.

... able to pan for gold.. I managed to get $48 worth and put it in a little locket.. I cheated a bit because the person beside me got sick of doing it and left theirs so I finished their pan off and combined it with mine. Kiwis are resourceful !! Strangely I enjoyed the day more than I expected...probably because I learnt a lot about how the Alaskan people's survive the harsh winters. Tomorrow it is off to Denali National ...

... came out and they did dances which were kind of a mix of celtic steps and line dance moves. Enjoyed the other exhibits in the cultural centre which was very comprehensive, though we were starting to revisit story themes from the gold rush and Mt McKinley areas that we have already heard, and had got to know.

... lot of faith in our very experience driver, Scott. The last 40 miles was solid ice but fortunately this is a nearly straight, level road so although we had to take our time it was no problem. The entire drive out we were on "Moose Watch" for Marianne. She did not want to leave without seeing at least one. (None of us what to miss seeing one either but we let her think the effort is all for her.) ...
