On the way to Alaska - The Final Frontier

... City to Seattle, and Seattle to Fairbanks. Turned out we landed in Fairbanks at 2:46 AM local time (6:46 AM Raleigh time). Caught about 4 hours of sleep at the Holiday Inn Express and we are on to our cabin at Riverbend. Today we should see North Pole (that is the town of) and then on to the dog sleds.

We stopped and had pizza and then visited a Fred Meyers (for our 3rd time in Alaska). We are begining to love this store. We are now resting to get up and go to see if we can see the Northern Lights.

    ... getting throroughly frozen, we warmed up watching a Chinese ice sculptor demonstrate the art.

    We were on our own for lunch, so we and another couple headed to a Thai restaurant nearby. We had time after lunch to find a geocache in the Golden Heart Plaza, before boarding the bus and heading to Dredge #8.

    ... t fly so high that we didn't have a view of the terrain. It was so spectacular! The flight was flawlessly smooth and might I also add that it was an all girl crew! Yes....Pilot, Co-Pilot, Navigator and Flight Attendants were all women. These Alaskan gals rock!
