we spent our last few days in bali in kuta. if you stay away from the main tourist area, it's really not bad. and the beaches are surprisingly uncrowded and clean. a good place to learn to surf, if you're so inclined.
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia ameritapaneseBack to Poppies Lane 1 to Taman Ayu guest house to spend our last few nights in Bali. Jenny departed and shortly Tilly followed!! Then we began our journey to NZ............................
Kuta, Indonesia beckye12th August 2008 We flew into Bali from Singapore and we only arrived at midnight which was a bit **** as we ended up going straight to our bungalows to sleep and didnt get to look around the place till the next day. We got a pick up from the airport from the place we were staying, Suji bungalows, which was grand as trying to get a taxi would have been a bit more hassle. We were staying in Kuta, the main resort. Suji bungalows looked nice but the one we were in was ****, the bathroom was in b...

... the Denpasar airport in Kuta. After waiting for 1.5h with Spongebob in the waiting room our contact person appears and procedures the photograph (Indonesian government wants your face in front of a red wall), fingerprints and signing (all digital) with us within 30min. Until now this is our only short visit to Bali's party HQ, despite of the arrival at Denpasar airport.<br>
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia elgrillo... ever stayed at as an adult. Bit hard to relax though when you’re haemorrhaging cash for the privilege. It’s so bad that I refused to eat bar one meal a day. Breakfast alone costs US$26 p/p!!!! However, the place is very kid focused with an awesome kids club and some great pools including 1 with a 30metre long waterslide so it’s impossible to stay down on it. The slide is fast and it burns my butt as I hurtle down, but the kids can’t ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia hindmarsh... but at least I managed a couple of plates of cheap food, and a solitary bintang! I also got me some sunnies and a bintang vest as mentioned earlier. couldn't resist! I sat off on the beach for a while too and thought i really should've tried to learn to surf. looked like a lot of fun. but as per usual i was too lazy or too hungover. there's probably a lesson there somewhere! i was also fairly shocked to see you could buy some sort of crossbow thing from some dodgy guy on the ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia mikeetty... by a really *****y hooker/dancer. She kept gesturing money with her finger tips and refused to dance until people gave her cash. One idiot actually gave her money, and then for the next 10minutes she held the wad of cash in the air and gestured for even more people to give her money! Not just that, but she was a **** dancer and was really really lazy! The usual buffed up camp posers went on stage to dance away half naked, but she didn't dance with them. She just kept walking away ...
Kuta, Bali, Indonesia cereal42... 2-3 hours. We hiked downhill about 15 minutes to get to our raft and we were off. I was excited about the adventure but quite nervous. I'm not the best swimmer. I never learned how to swim as a kid and about 5 years ago, I took a YMCA swimming class in Houston, so I could learn. But it was pretty intimidating as everyone taking the class was around 7-8 years old and fearless. So I learned the basics but I still ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia greld... together & dropped about $30 total on dinner & drinks. I could tell I was going to like Indonesia. Like Thailand & Laos before, once arriving in Bali, it was time to learn the principles of a new country: First, the local beer. In Bali it is "Bintang"...available in two sizes: small & large. Second, a new currency & its conversion: the Indonesian Rupees...100,000 rupees is about $10 Canadian. Lastly, it was time to learn a new way of ...
Bali, Indonesia wally09Hello! Sorry it has been a bit long but I am making a concerted effort to catch up! So have settled in school and at home. Have successfully found my pimbantu, (maid, translates as helper, sort of) Who comes Monday to Saturday for about 3 - 4 four hours. She cleans up after me and does a bit of shopping as needed but at the moment is not too much for her to do, (apparently she has a pretty sweet deal with me, but still feels a bit odd having someone to do that ...
Umalas, Indonesia ifanabroad... to which is charged...except when the office is closed. There are no gates, it wasn't yet dark, so we went off a-monkeying. Kirsty squatted down on her haunches opposite a monkey who was doing the same, for a spot-the-difference photo, whereupon the monkey screeched and leapt at her, teeth bared. Kirsty screeched and leapt backwards, continuing the spot-the-difference theme. Presumably it thought she was after its coconut. So, having encountered a load of monkeys, going ...
Ubud, Bali, Indonesia jacobandkirsty... view of the field were taken, sometimes it's good being a +1!) We drank Aussie beer and hung out until sundown. I got some great tips on hostels to stay at in Bangkok, and inside info on a killer SCUBA spot below an old oil rig off the coast of Thailand. The old oil rig has been converted into a basic hotel (GO Green!), and they have dive instructors on staff because there is a whole ...
