Today we left to go fishing near Mt. McKinley. The area where we fished was known by all the locals. It was a beautiful river but sadly we did not catch any fish, but my brother learned how to cast. ... airstrip the pilot was waiting for me despite the fact that it was only 4.50pm. He, Dave, asked if I'd been on a boat as I was barefoot. I didn't bother putting any shoes on since I didn't plan to leave the plane this time as it was to be a flight around the summit of Mt McKinley.
Again I was in the front seat beside the pilot, Dave, he took a while telling us all the necessaries like where the emergency exits were, flares etc & also explained about using oxygen masks ...
... going up higher and higher up to the summit lake. The clouds are dark with some opening spots and the sun throws little warm patches of sunshine on the mountain range.
The road is a little wet at some spots but good to ride. After we pass the summit lake we ride down for about 3 miles before we hit pavement again.
It's about 6:30pm and time for dinner......
Tomorrow we will ride towards Fairbanks and hopefully dry. The Arctic circle is only 2 days away.
