Today there is just some stones and other pieces of rubble but from what I imagined I think the palace would be really impressive especially for something that was built 4000 years ago.     Last night I stayed in a lovely boutique hotel in the town of Haifa and had dinner with Yigal and Amir from AOPA, who had been so helpful while in Israel. Amir flies a Tecnam P92 and undertakes adventures around the med, flying off to Cyprus, Greece and in a few weeks Italy and Croatia.     ... city is surrounded by a 4.5 km medieval wall, built by the Venetions, parts of which we walked along during our sightseeing. There are 2 museums in Heraklion , one is the Archeological Museum which was partly closed - due to renovations! The other is the historical museum which could have been interesting but we didn't have time for that. We enjoyed Heraklion which was quite different to Athens, because of the large Venetian influence.
