        im meeting people... went to the local hotel lobby... nobody there...

Aside from the clean little family homes on this site, their are 40,000 to 80,000 people living within a 3 km x 1 1/2 km area (about 2.5 sq. mi.), so the image shown above seems to paint a far different picture from the one we were hearing about from these people.

        ... flash cards. We drove back through the flooded streets to eat noodles at a restaurant. We headed back to teach the 2nd and 3rd graders. They learned how to say where they're from, and Miyoung and I drew a map to show where we were from in the U.S. The kids played a game with the vocabulary from their books.
