        ... Nakhon Si, but southern Thailand, is Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan. It's stupa (chedi) is crowned by a solid gold spire and the grounds of the temple are huge and even house a small museum containing a skeleton from a dead Bryde's Whale which was found on a beach at the Tha Sung river mouth in the district of Tha Sala, Nakhon Si Thammarat in november 1919.         ... nice to be so warmly received by this family. The house is beautiful too. There is so much open space to practice karate and I have my own room with a queen sized bed with dolphin and ocean bedding. I went to open the wardrobe to put my things in it and there was a bear on the hanger with a sign that said, "Welcome to our home". I feel so much more a part of this family than anywhere else.

        ... high spirits and pretty much 100 percent of the people driving past shouted 'hello' at us to which we replied 'hello'/'Happy New Year' in Thai. [Rich: Again, the atmosphere was brilliant.
