Florence Update

... to the top of the Duomo. All 461 of them! I went to the Museum on the History of Science. Nobody else wanted to come! We went to the Bibolo gardens, the POnt Vechio bridge and the Duomo. We are quite efficient tourists when we put our minds to it. Florence is not that big really. We are off to Pisa tomorrow. then a day in Rome and home. Cheers

... br>We used his services a few times and then we decided to rent a car (pick ups adds up). You got to go to Magen's Bay Beach. The view is spectacular. My wife put together a picnic basket and we just hang out under a tree.

Everyone was friendly. Shanda in room assignments was also tremendously helpful and friendly. Made sure we got the condo we wanted which was the same we had used last year. Diane was such a sweetheart. she made us feel so at home and was ...

... and memories. the place had an otherwordly, dreamlike quality. In comparison his body language was cool and relaxed. Indian, yet westernised, well-travelled, he watched me. His name was Suri and we talked for two hours. In a way that you only can with strangers I unburdened all the dark thoughts, emotions and pains of England to him. The conversation was highly philosophical and spiritual, the kind that you cannot avoid here. The kind that I love ...

I predict a riot

... of people tearing apart a large rubbish truck to get out but there were road blocks past our flats with cars on fire...I thought in my first month in Uganda I might get a nasty bought of the runs..not a rioting city! All good with us now, but sadly at least 11 people were killed. After all that, it's a quite weekend, the riots are still continuing but seem to be more controlled and people have calmed down. I'm off to ...

Waiting for departure - Minus 7

It's Friday night and today it was in a sense the last day at work before my departure. As usual it's a crazy time: many things to be addressed at work, coping with feeling guilty in leaving all behind in such a time of undergoing changes, rushing to prepare what is needed for departure... when practically only one day is left... On the other side, I feel so lucky to have been given such an opportunity. I do ...

Weekend at the beach and more AIDS work

This past weekend a large group of volunteers from TPA (Projects Abroad) went to a beach resort near the small fishing village of Butre. We had such a good time. We played beach volleyball with some of the locals and played in the ocean with some children from Butre. On Saturday some of us hiked over the mountain (more like a hill) to the town of Busua. The views from the top of the mountain were breathtaking, and the ...

On the road to Takoradi

... some friends place late afternoon. We were happy to see that they were well installed. We spend a few days around Takoradi. There are some of the most beautiful beaches I know. there is a place that has some marks on the granit. No one has been able to tell me what they are so far. If anyone has an idea I'd be happy to know.

Yes, sorry it's been a while. Over the last little while I have been travelling quite frequently. There are different ways to travel long distance around this country, you can get a nice comfortable STC coach, a little cheaper coach without Air conditioning, or a Tro Tro. I have been riding in tro tros for all of my traveling. Tro tros are basically just big vans or mini buses with room for between 10-25 people depending on how many can squish in. The long ...
