Ullal mangalore a riot of colours!!

... style in the décor the antique furniture and the menu boasts many of the recipes handed down 6 generations especially the amasing fish curries. From every table at the restaurant one can see the Ocean , and the large windows reflect it over and over again, its nearly like dinning Alfresco de la mer! Carrying the theme outside is an arched -------- arches within arches, the wooden floors give it a warm ...

Our trip to the deserted beach

... of coconuts in front of it so we knocked on the door... Had I known the awkwardness that would come, I probably would have just gone back to the hotel with an empty stomach! The family opens their door to see white people standing there, and pretty soon the whole family is outside, from grandparents to grandchildren... Probably about 20 people in all. And they just surround us, and barely anyone knows English. The kids know how to ask for our names, but ...

Lost for words...nearly

... little further south and in from the coast. Our first sleeper coach experience was not worth the cash saving one bit! Spent the entire night being tossed around and flung up into the air every time we went over rocky terrain - and there were some very large humps in that road: it felt like we were on some kind of suburban coach safari. Thanks to those nasty, natty polyester coach curtains, I couldn't see a thing but it felt like we were taking some wierd shortcuts down ...

Going Native

... the toilet where the feet go. One more thing you can do that will endear you to the staff is to squeegee the floor. The bathroom is generally a combined shower, toilet, and occasionally will have a sink as well. No bathtubs, and no shower stall, just a shower head and one or two taps sticking out of the wall. There is a concrete or tile floor, and a drain at one end. Dump water on the floor at the end of your visit, (you ARE barefoot, I hope), washing out any dirt or sand ...

" Well the men and women of the Crew had seen this one going on for years, apparently what they do is get the credit card or debit card number from the woman, get tickets for her, and as soon as she is in the air, the account is drained, the credit maxed, and the charmer is nowhere to be found. The woman, of course is left broke, and even brokenhearted sometimes, "rinsed," "sewn up" and generally taken for a ride ...

Goa and Kerala: Our final days in India

... frustration at being delayed was further compounded by the knowledge that our brief stay here in Cochin was now reduced to less than 12 hours. Michael Palin would have been proud of what we achieved here though: - We visited four different hotels before deciding upon one (we can't remember the name of it, but it was above Pizza Hut !), - We found an excellent seafood restaurant serving crab curry to die for !, - We completed a whirlwind tour of the Old Town known as 'Fort ...

Mangalore

We just pulled into the dock at Mangalore. It looks like we are in the heart of iron works, everything is rusty red in color. The sky is hazy, lots of smoke stacks, the street near the dock looks like it has been watered. Believe me, there hasn't been any rain. We were told that they mine a lot of iron here. I am not surprised. Part of the day's activities include a tour of a cashew factory, the drive was lovely, mountainous ...
