We watched the flag being lowered in Tianamen Square which was equally impressive and a good show of the famous Chinese military. <br>We have a lovely man from Taiwan staying in our dorm and surprisingly for us here are many young Chinese also staying in the hostel. We spent the morning with him and 2 other Chinese girls one from Shaghai and the other from Haian. We ate typical Chinese breakfast in a tiny restaurant ...

Beijing, China ditzyaliHey everyone! I have just landed in Beijing, China, where we will begin our adventures in Asia! Today we've traveled to Vancouver on the ferry, ridden in limos to the airport, flown on an airplane to Beijing, and taken a tram to our luggage. We have a 3 hour wait until our flight to ...
Beijing, China mbradley... excited to leave after two minutes. I would walk down the aisle and it was impossible to look at anything because all the vendors were all over you telling you they had the best stuff and prices. Sometimes they would grab you and pull into their booth. At one point I was walking with Sam when he just disappeared and I went back to find him in a coat store with a lady grabbing on and not letting go! And if you want something you bargain for it and ...

The sky was gray and looked smoky. Once in a while there was a little breeze, warm and sticky but even that would make us feel good. We walked toward the Tian An ...
Beijing, China pdjw... Arm has deployed battery of surface-to-air Hongqi missiles less than a mile from the National Stadium and other key venues. Critics say the show of muscle might be more of an attempt to keep a lid on dissent at a time when the world's media is watching. The 1989 protests and subsequent killings in Tiananmen Square were broadcast largely because the world's media were on hand to cover a state visit by the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Beijing, China happysheep... says. I bartered for some very-anticipated Pearls and called it a day. Off to the airport for my flight to Shanghai, where the ship had sailed during my time in Beijing. Shanghai was really windy and rainy, limited what we could do when we got there. After a day of walking around in the city while it was raining, we ended up back at the ship soaking wet and ready to catch up on sleep. China definately kicked the **** out of me. Stay tuned for Japan, Hawaii, and Costa Rica.
Hong Kong/Beijing/Shanghai, China akwonton... reorganised and repacked! Met up with Laura and Will one of the other couples who were also on an overnighttrain to Xi'an but a different one (a posher one I think, left 4minutes before mine and got in half an hour before!) and we all shared a cab to the station. Beijing Train Station in an amazing building, but getting to it in the traffic is really hellish!! Was kind of sad to say goodbye to Beijing, but hoping for some cleaner air and its good to move on and see new things.
Beijing, China emilybsYou are wrong if you think Joy emanates only or principally from human relationships. God has placed it all around us. It is in everything and anything we might experience. We just have to have the courage to turn against our habitual lifestyule and engage in uncoventional living. Chris McCandless, in a letter to Ronald Franz, from Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer ...
Beijing, China jkirby... them. From the floor plan, there looked to be karaoke bars, a bowling alley?!, card rooms and other leisurely activities. This place is open 24 hours so I guess you can stay there overnight and partake in the breakfast buffet as well. There were still plenty of people there when we decided to leave around 12am. It's a nice way to spend a weekend...everything except for the excessive nudity. Sorry no pictures included in this posting. =)
