... whole site has been turned into a museum and the warriors are covered by huge warehouse like sheds, with appropriate lighting. When you first lay eyes on them, it is a magical experience. There are over 1000 warriors and horses, which were built to protect the emperor in the after life. Each warrior has a different face, which is itself is amazing and they range from generals, to archers, to foot soldiers. They are life size, and quite tall (which is amazing) as ...

... news. He has just been informed that our boat's not coming. UM, WHAT?! The water levels this time of year are very low so the river cruise we were supposed to be embarking on tonight is stuck in Fengdu. We will have to get on board there. At least we still get to take the cruise. The early start today, and having full bellies has made us sleepy, including our guide. We all end up closing our eyes for a few moments on the trip back to Chongqing, except for ...

Arrived stupid-o-clock at Fengdu Ghost City, totally forgot that Chinese tourists get up before the crack of dawn as 'instructed'!

We had ideas about what the Fengdu Ghost city was all about - a city submerged and deserted because it was forcibly flooded by the massively huge 3 gorges dam project. The city from a distance looked dead but people were up and making noises - not that deserted then!
