... see it again before we leave. The humid conditions gave way to rain, so with the purchase of an umbrella we continued our walk through these delightful alleyways. ... back at the hotel for a quick turnaround as booked to see a Kung Fu show tonight. This was astounding. About 30 people doing a London type show of Kung Fu. Back to the hotel after for a big surprise. The whole group sitting round waiting for me with a birthday cake and candles. They all sang and it was very embarrassing. Suzhou is famed for its private gardens, canals and silk and is frequently compared with Venice as 42% of the area of the city is covered by water. Suzhou is in the middle of the Yangtze Delta. ... with overnight! Having made our beds we headed back out of the hostel to find some food, wandering along the canal past a series of very touristy shops and bars. The Chinese 包子 (steamed bun) came into its own here as we couldn't find anything that looked good, most places having already closed in true Chinese style.
