... snadisti, mut muuten jotain 30 lämmintä ja aurinko lämmittää kivasti. Biitsistä muutama sata metriä itään on saaria ympäröivä riutta, mist kuuluu kokoajan hirvee aallokon pauhu ja itse aallotkin on kauheen kokoisia. Pitää varmaan ottaa kanootti lainaks ja lähtee ziigailee aaltoja, mitä ei Hietsussa ihan jokapäivä nää... Ainii. Kuuden viikon päästä (viimeistään) lähtee lento New Yorkin kylästä kohti Helsingin metropolia, mut siitä ei sen enempää...vielä!
Ha'apai, Tonga miiajussi... in an underground oven.We didn't really know what most of it was (imagine Owen's face) but we ate our fill and it looked like we had hardly started! The local children performed traditional Tongan dances and songs. The next day we left the anchorage and headed out to sea. As we entered the next bay, Carol sighted something in the water that she thought might be a manta ray. Knowing that I ...

Utangake Island, Tonga medicalwanderer... so Emeline had to stay at the hospital overnight, allowing the other 2 to come out! Dr Eko ???? was the other Dr with Dr saia, but we couldnt say his surname so susie and I decided to call him Dr. Eko (we thought it was quite amusing but he hasn't seen any of Lost so he didn't really undrstand our amusemet, nevermind!) The Mermaid bar is a proper Yacht bar in the high season, and its right on the water front and has a boat shaped bar. It ...
Neiafu, Tonga medicalwanderer... for the next 3 weeks - Island Explorer!! Island Explorer Guesthouse is owned by Paul and Brenda, a Canadian couple that moved here about 1 1/2 years ago. They live above the apartment they rent out with their puppy called "Bear" - who is now our little play mate and super cute (although he's going through the chewing stage at the moment which means you have to watch your fingers and toes because he believes these ...
Neiafu, Tonga medicalwanderer... untimely, bloody end (sarcasm). The day progressed, I lost a tuna, Mark landed another baby marlin. Andy, Mark and I got a Mahi Mahi each. Then came the most contraversial moment of the day.. The one that got away. A line started to run, another marlin! We cleared the other lines and Andy was assuming the position in the chair, when Henk and Te'O started shouting that it was my fish and not Andy's. I don't know if it was greed or slavish ...
Neiafu, Tonga richardhmcotton... was faster than a striped marlin, or Lake Superior is smaller than Lake Michigan (who named it Superior?). There was nearly a fight between all the teams and the most annoying brits the world has seen. It just goes to show that there is no fool like an old racist fool. Today is a rest day for us and race day for the boat people.
Neiafu, Tonga richardhmcotton... room clad only in a towel.(no photo sorry)... Ahh.. if only he could remember it. Today we relocated to Adventure Backpackers, booked our trips (whale watching and sport fishing), hired some sea kayaks and went out paddling round Port of Refuge, stopping off at tiny beaches and the occaisional dock before fighting the waves and wind to get back ...
Neiafu, Tonga richardhmcottonFor now, just a quick word... Every Friday night in Vava'u, anyone who is eager can enter their boat in the weekly race held in the Port of Refuge. If you are without sail, you can hop aboard a boat that is entered and help crew, or just be the onbard cheer squad. It's a great way to start the night...with awards and drinks after.
Neiafu, Vava'u, Tonga mimosa79... climb was harder than I thought it was going to be especially with all of the food and water we had to carry, there was no real path going up so we made our way through bushes mainly which was a bit of a nightmare. The hike took around 2 hours or so to get to the top and as we were making our way to the top of Tofua we were greeted by a grand sight of Kao in the near distance with clouds covering its top part of the cone it was quite a sight.
When we ...
