... encouraged us to pick **** up and stick our heads in random rooms. Then we went to a performance put on by the Yao girls, who are famous for keeping their hair very long. They showed us a marriage ceremony and chose Ben and a few other men to participate. They took him in the back to change into marriage clothes and forced him to buy a present for his new "wife". all the chinese people got up to take pictures with the ...
... to couples that forget all about taking pictures. Yangshuo is also a very popular honeymoon place for young couples. The come here also to pose for professional pictures in wedding customs along the river.
Went by and looked at the stuff Dawn was buying. The gal was just setting things out on the street in front of a friends shop. Some very nice stuff to. I picked out a few things for myself. The one thing lead to another and we found ...
... She has been reminding everyone all week. We are going to have a party for her and have invited some of her friends and classmates. The only problem is that everyone is working. The party was great. She was very happy with her gifts and cake. We bought a candle that played happy birthday when you lit is. The only problem was we lit it wrong. It took Rauri the architect/teacher to figure it out. When it was first lit it took ...
Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang, China bob8888... we'll just stay up there for a night rather than opting to be driven around in a van full of tourists for the day. As you can see from our pictures, the weather was a little iffy (forcing Kaitlin to bust-out her blue Chinese rain boots), but the terraces shrouded in mist were quite beautiful. The extra bus rides were definitely worth the trip, and at least now we've reminded ourselves why you should always skip the tour bus.
Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang, China kaitlinandmat... interesting rocks were meant to look like. Apparently one represented a bumper harvest, another a roaring lion. The formation of the cave was interesting but it was hard to have the imagination to believe what the formations were meant to look like. The zoo was pretty depressing and was very cold. There was a camel which I harshly named the amputated camel as it appeared that it could not get up and you could not see his legs. I think I managed to convince Rob for ...
Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang, China rbirtle... to bed after some Chinese checkers... But the next day we got on a bus and headed over to the world famous Panda Sanctury... Anyone who's been keeping up with these will know that generally me and zoos don't mix, but this place was fantastic... I only saw one panda who looked distressed... the others were happily lying around, eating bamboo and pretty much posing for the camera...! We got to see loads of giant pandas, a fair few babies in the ...
Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang, China you_know_zo... Village, through the rice terraces. It was so amazing to see the large-scaled terrace fields, resulting from people's hard work of more than 600 years since Dynasty Yuan. Here are settled two main minorities, Zhuang and Yao. All of them tried to survive with the few they have, their creativity and intelligence just made us admire. The walk was a bit tough under the burning sunshine, but ...
Guilin, China tailleuseToday I took a full day tour of Guilin. I was joined by just one other couple from London. Our first stop was Seven Star Park. There was something for everyone in this park. There was an ampitheaterfor shows. There was a rock museum with all kinds of ...
Guilin, China exploreamerica... hour train ride was uneventful (thank goodness!!!). We had decided that when we got into Beijing we would go to Gai Fan for a good meal before heading home. Unfortunately our train got in about 2 hours late and it was past midnight by the time we actually got to Beijing. So that idea was shot and we just went straight home. All in all, some disappointments and unlucky things, but still a good trip!
