Historical Traveler Reviews of Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge And Spa Lake Tahoe

Loved this Facility

from A TripAdvisor Member
This lodging was more than the pictures give it credit. I researched almost every facility in the area, before deciding on this lodging. It was spectacular. The location is the only beach front property in South Lake Tahoe. The staff was wonderful. Every request is answered to your satisfaction in minutes. I can honestly say, I almost didn't write this review, because I don't want too many people to find this place. I would like to have it all to myself. Extra pillows, no problem, checked in early, no problem. I don't know where the less than perfect reviews came from, but they could not have been at Lakeshore Lodge & Spa. It was everything and more than expected.

Terrible customer service

from A TripAdvisor Member
The place ended up being a glorified motel and did not live up to the description on their website. The most disappointing part was the customer service. At the time we made the hotel reservation, we gave our credit card information to hold the room. We asked what the cancellation policy was and were informed if we didn't show up we'd be charged for one night. We knew we'd be staying one night, it was the second night that was up in the air. At the check in, we were asked to show our credit card and were charged for one night. We assumed this was the first night, since we hadn't authorized any other charges. We told the management we'd probably be checking out the next day and they said no problem. However, when we went to check out the next morning, they informed us that we would still be charged for the second night because they had a two night minimum. This was the first time they told us this. We figured they'd admit there was a misunderstanding, however, the manager said that there was nothing they could do and wouldn't even let us discuss it with her! We are currently wasting valuable time in our lives disputing the charges and reporting them to the Business Bureau. If you're a hard working, honest person, please don't give your business to these types of people. If we can prevent this from happening to someone else, that will prevent this from being a total waste of our time!

Loved the View

All the rooms had patios or balconies with a wonderful view of Lake Tahoe, overlooking the hotel's private beach! It was really nice to be able to come back to the hotel and enjoy the beach while the public beaches were crowded and parking hard to find. The decor was pleasant and the staff very friendly and helpful. Enterance to the hotel was tricky at first since it is not really on a street, but more on the back of a parking lot. There was a heated pool and hot tub that all the kids loved, and there was even a volleyball and net set up on the beach. However, the walls and floors were very thin and noise travelled easily. The sink area was cramped for two people and the tub/shower drained very slowly. Overall, this hotel was nice except for the noise, and reasonablly priced for the area ($125). It would be hard to guarentee the same or a better view from other hotels at this price range

Breathtaking Lakeside View

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Lakeshore Lodge & Spa for three nights, 2/13-2/16. We stayed in a room on the 3rd floor with an amazing view of the lake. I was very pleased with this property. It was exactly as beautiful as the pictures on their website show. So, if you are looking at their website and you like what you see, then you will love the Lakeshore Lodge & Spa. We also had a massage at the Elements Spa which is located on the property. Wonderful! I really want to come back in the summer because I would love to lay out at the resort's beach. The beach of course was covered in snow and we didn't want to venture out in the cold to take a walk. There's lots to do in South Lake Tahoe with the lake, skiing, casino, restaurants, and clubs.

Nice Romantic Get-away spot!

My husband and I visited in October 2002 and had a fabulous time.

Everyone was friendly, the view was breathtaking and the rooms were very cool. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Highly recommended!!

My wife and I made our first trip to Lake Tahoe in April, 2003. It was our 6th anniversary and my cousin was getting married on the same day at the Riva Grill. We, all, stayed at the Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge and Spa and were completely satisfied. Of course, you can find newer hotels up the road on the Nevada side, but you will pay dearly for the style and still not be on that beautiful lake. The rooms were rather romantic and the view from my balcony was absolutely breath-taking. I could not stop taking pictures. I highly recommend the Lakeshore Lodge and Spa if you want to relax and enjoy Lake Tahoe. If you wish to waste a lot of money, go on up the road. Sincerely, Chris

A bit weathered but nice

from A TripAdvisor Member
I visited Lake Tahoe for the first time this summer and stayed at the Lake Tahoe Lodge and Spa. The fact that the lodge is located on the Lake is wonderful, however, the lodge itself is a bit old and in need of some tlc. The rooms were clean and the lodge staff were very friendly but now that I have toured the area I think I would prefer to stay in North Lake Tahoe (Incline Village or Tahoe City). The inns and lodges in the north part of the lake are newer and less commercialized.

Lake Tahoe Lodge and Spa sits right on the main drag behind a restuarant. While the opportunity to stay on the lake is nice, I think there are much nicer lodging available.

Not up to par!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The lodge was ok if the price matched the quality. The cancellation policy MUST BE CONSIDERED BEFORE BOOKING A ROOM! When we arrived, the room was ready as promised. We requested a "higher floor" room but got one on the first floor. The room was supposed to be "non smoking" but we could not get the smoke smell out of the room. The rooms have not been updated in quite some time, with NO AIR CONDITIONING. This caused us to leave the sliding room door open all night to keep cool despite our safety concerns. The room was very noisy due to thin walls. We could hear all of the rooms next to and above us due to "creaky floors". When we asked what the refund policy was if we needed to cancel early, we were told "YOU MUST CANCEL 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE TO RECEIVE ANY REFUND" Thus, not allowing you to leave early if you have an emergency without losing your money. The problem is, if you are not satisified with the first night of a 4 day vacation, you have no option to leave.

Best Vacation Ever

This incredible hotel is the only lodge in South Lake Tahoe located right on this beautiful lake. They have a well groomed sandy beach, a well kept pool & hot tub.

The rooms were clean, newly decorated (with gas fireplaces & all had a view of the lake.

The staff was extremely helpful. Taking time out of their busy schedule to book dinner reservations & arrange transportation to the casinos & other points of interest.

They are locateed only one miles from Heavenly Valley & have shuttles running all day long

I would highly recommend this establishment to singles, couples & families considering visiting Lake Tahoe

Look elsewhere!

My boyfriend and I took a trip out to Lake Tahoe's south shore this past July. When we arrived at the Lakeshore Lodge and Spa we were disappointed to find out that our room wasn't even ready. After traveling all day we were discouraged that we couldn't settle in, and instead we had to wait an hour and a half. Our room was not all that attractive either. The wallpaper was peeling off, there were leaking stains on the ceiling, and the room all together was unattractive. When we went to lie on the beach, we were astounded by their lawn furniture. The reclining chairs were broken, rusty, had missing wheels, and had broken straps. The ice machines are quite antique as well, they should have been updated some time ago. We thought about getting another hotel, but it was one of the few that was right on the water. When we tried to play volleyball (since the net was up), they told us they didn't have one and quit buying them because people would take them.

The only good thing about this place is the spa! We both had facials and massages and found them to be wonderful.

Sincerely,

Disappointed
