... easier in the shallow lagoons. The gaps seemed to be opposite river mouths and that was where we saw surfers. Stopped at PK 18 beach for a swim. Long white sandy beach by a stream almost empty. Snorkelled for a while in the lagoon. The reef is two hundred or so metres out, where the breakers are. Almost straight away we pull into a tiny valley with a sacred site and carved heads not destroyed by missionaries. We ate some orange coloured fruits picked from the ground, just around ...

... relatively close to the shoe I ended up at a coral reef which was providing a home to the most amazing colorful array of fish. I spent the rest of my time in Tahiti searching for this spot I had with my friends from the pension without success until my last day in Tahiti - what a way to start and end the trip. Papeete was not what we ...

    ... nice.

On waiting for our transfer to the airport the sun started to appear and it was as humid as hell. We checked our bags at the domestic terminal and asked what gate we had to head too. The attendant looked at us with a strange glare and just said "go over there". On heading "over there" we noticed that there was only one gate and we waited patiently sitting under the fans until our Air Tahiti Nui Dash 8 arrived. There were lots of honeymooners ...

... that front on to the beach and found their poolside bar offering finger food and half price cocktails, so we thought we'd make that our dinner. They brought one of our snacks but not the other. It was to be tortilla chips with guacamole, and we saw two other plates arrive, but given to other people. When we queried it, they said there were to be no more snacks because they were doing a BBQ instead. But we had already paid! So the manager came over and attempted ...
