Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Tagoo Mykonos Town
Most amazing sunsets at Hotel Tagoo
After reading the great reviews on Trip Advisor my husband booked our stay in Mykonos at Hotel Tagoo. When we arrived at the island we were immediatley greeted with a complimentary shuttle from the port by Yianni. Upon check in we met Anna. When she took us up to our room we were thrilled. The hotel has the best sunsets and every night we would just stand out on our balcony and watch them in ah. Anna was great at recommending where to eat and shop. She is fluent in both Greek and also English, which helped me because I'm not fluent in Greek.
The hotels location is great. It is located about a 10 minute walk from the main center which we didn't mind because we wanted the exercise. If we have the opportunity to return we will definetly go back to Hotel Tagoo.
Tolles Hotel, Supergeil!!! - SUPER nette Besitzer!!!
Vielen Dank Anna !!!
The perfect views/service/location for the best price
I have spent a relaxing weekend at this lovely hotel the first week of June. Since I have travelled to many places around Europe & Greece, I could not believe it when I arrived there (this place was reccomended by a friend). The location is very very good, the rooms were very clean and the service/assistance from Yiannis and Anna (the owners) can only be found in such small family run hotels. The views from the pool are unforgettable and still "follow" me back in my office in Lausanne (I have one as screensaver). I reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants to get THE best value for money in Mykonos.
A friendly and amazing place
I went to Mykonos with my husband for our honeymoon in mid June. After reviewing various travel books and travel websites, I decided to stay in this hotel. The hotel is excellent. It is close to the Mykonos town which can accomodate our daily needs (both my husband and I do not have driving license). We had a short walk to the town and enjoyed the beautiful scenery around every day. Anna and her brother Jimmy is very helpful. Anna was so kind to offer a great room for us. My husband was amazed by the beautiful scenery and the sunset of Agean Sea. We even have thought of staying one year at this place. I still cannot believe this quality hotel is offering such a competitive price. The breakfast is simple but as what Anna suggested, the cost is very competitive in the Mykonons area. Hotel Tagoo is the best place for people who prefer to relax in a tranquil environment while enjoying the entertainment at the town center. Last but not least, I would like to thank Anna for everything. She and Hotel Tagoo gave us the best memory for our honeymoon.
We'll See You Again
A week ago we said to all at Hotel Tagoo, "Yiasou, thase doksana" as our vacation in Greece, Crete and the Cyclades came to a close as they always do--too soon.
From the first e-mail to Anna for room reservations and all messages thereafter, to Yanni's grin and waved greeting as he picked us up at the pier upon our arrival on the morning ferry, to the smiling "Hi, I'm Jimmy" from the sunglassed figure behind the pool bar, our stay at Tagoo will always be one of our most cherished travel memories.
Anna quickly made us feel part of the family as she welcomed us to the cozy reception area below the intimate dining room where we would find the perfect breakfast to start the day. Yanni pointed out highlights around Mykonos and its special places that many visitors may miss. The small, friendly staff made us at home quickly with smiles and an informal "Yasiou" as we settled in.
For us, Tagoo was within walking distance to Mykonos Town and pier with its narrow picturesque walkways, the kaleidoscope of restaurants, tavernas and shops, and those ageless pelicans--for years the town's unoffical greeters--preening and posing to the delight of all.
The walk back to the hotel and Tagoo's poolside was an excellent way to wind down a lazy afternoon or finish an evening, complete with Jimmy's fabulous music collection and a bit of the native raki or glass of wine. As others joined us, Yanni and Anna included, another day in Paradise dissolved slowly into an incredible Mykonos sunset as lights from ships in the harbor twinkled below.
There were even echoes of "Zorba The Greek" at poolside when Yanni and Anna delighted all, dancing to bouzouki music--the legendary sound of the Greek tavernas--compliments of Jimmie's music library and an excellent sound system.
With a smile and "Efhariso" to all, we highly recommend you put the wonderful Hotel Tagoo at the top of your Mykonos vacation residence list.
HotelTagoo: Sunset in Paradise !!!
We read some fantastic reviews of Hotel Tagoo and we (my boyfriend and I) were a bit sceptical when we saw the prices but we weren't disappointed. We had some problems getting in touch with the hotel and found their website elusive (don't confuse this with Cavo Tagoo) but with a dot gr hoteltagoo becomes easier to find. We were met at the airport by a welcoming Anna (the owner) which set the tone for our holiday, she gave us a lift to the hotel and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel relaxed & given recommendations for what to do, where to eat (there is no restaurant at the hotel although breakfast is available) and most importantly where to avoid. Anna does this out of her own goodwill and is not on any commission for her recommendations, your enjoyment is her only motivation and her genuine interest in you as her guests make her the perfect host. Jimmy, the bartender was always smiling & friendly - he makes a mean banana daquiri. HIs greek salads are tasty too! Even Leah the cleaner/waitress was extremely friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself is located high above the harbour on different levels and boasts spectacular views, however the walk up from town can feel like a climb and may not be suitable for those who have trouble walking (although it is only ten minute walk or 3 euros in a taxi).
If you want a friendly, family run hotel which is excellent value for money then hoteltagoo should be first choice for your stay in Mykonos. We cannot recommend it highly enough. We'll be back in the near future so save a room for us!
Best value on Mykonos
If you pick a hotel based solely on the level of luxury, regardless of the price, there are other hotels on Mykonos that will be more to you liking. However, if you want a clean, comfortable room with all the standard amenities, and a fabulous view with most helpful management, then Hotel Tagoo is one of the best finds in all of the Greek islands. We stayed in one of the larger rooms (I highly reccommend that you book one of these given the low cost in any event), with a spectacular view of the sea. And what a beautiful fool and bar area on top of the hotel, run by very friendly sister (seh married a Greek) and brother formerly from Canada. I can't believe that there is a better value anywhere throughout the islands, much less on Mykonos!
I'm very picky and only pick the best.
"Oh my goodness" is the reaction. For the affordable price this place is perfect. I travel a lot and I always expect cleanliness and comfort. Well, I got that at hotel tagoo. What I didn't expect was to be treated like a family member. Anna, Yanni and Jimmy are the greatest pple on mykonos. I met so many pple on the island and they didn't even know the names of the pple working at their hotel nor did they rave about it.
So, I'm saying the service is absolutely amazing. When going out, I felt safe knowing that I can count on the pple at the hotel if anything were to happen. Thats something u dont expect from a hotel. It was like staying at home with family.
This hotel has a great view like all the other hotels but one thing stands out.....their view has a great pool with comfortable surroundings and a nice bar. The private bathroom is clean, rooms with great A/C, beds are clean and comfortable. The location is in perfect walking distance to the main town. The price is very affordable......they dont over charge....and u get more than what u pay for.
I never travel to the same place twice but I"m definetely going to go back and stay with Anna and family.
Email if u want advice when travelling to greece.
Wonderful stay at the Tagoo!
We stayed at this fantatic hotel in mid-June, 2005. Upon arrival at the Tagoo Hotel my husband and I were immediately welcomed with warm and inviting Greek hospitality by Anna, the owner, and her brother Jimmy, the resident bar man... and to our amazement even by the other guests! We were shown our room, a perfectly comfortable and spotless seaview room with all the amenities. Within two days, we were upgraded without additional charge to an even larger suite with an even more stunning view of the sea and sunsets from our own private terrace. Each night by the pool bar we were entertained by Jimmy serving up his special "cocktail du soir" and were able to meet and mingle with the other guests or find a private spot and enjoy the romantic sunset. Tagoo prides itself on being a "family friendly" hotel, and for good reason. One night, Anna and her husband Yanni and their families hosted a wonderful barbeque for the guests and staff (with tasty traditional greek cuisine and vegetables fresh from their home garden)... to top off the night and to our delight, both Anna and Yanni performed a traditional greek dance!
We were so impressed with the level of professional and personal service at Tagoo. Anna helped us get a great deal on a moped that we rented for our entire 6 day stay. She provided helpful suggestions for restaurants, beaches to visit and shopping. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We left Mykonos for Santorini, but despite the beauty of Santorini, we left our hearts in Mykonos at Tagoo Hotel... we will definitely return for another stay at Anna's beautiful hotel.
We have attached some photos which highlight our memorable stay at Tagoo Hotel.
A nice surprise!!!!
With no original plans to go to Mykonos and no reservations, my husband and I arrived at the port on a Monday in early July. When we saw Iannis there with the pictures of the Hotel Tagoo and its beautiful pool, it was a no-brainer. The price was great - even less than we usually pay for hotels in the States, even when booking through discount sites.
What a great decision!!!!!!!!!! We ended up extending our stay from two nights to four because we were having so much fun. The room was spare & simple -- no frills -- but we barely spent any time there. Every morning & afternoon we lay by the large pool (a very nice contrast to many of the "pools" in Mykonos, Santorini, etc. that are actually very tiny) and hung out by the bar. The view was unbelievable, especially at sunset....
Staff was very accommodating & made it easy for us by arranging scooter rentals, recommending restaurants, etc. The walk to Mykonos town was not bad, but once we got the scooter it was really easy to get around. A great, family-run place.... we will definitely be back!!!! Thanks to Anna & Iannis (and Jim, of course - we miss your drinks!) -- Donna & Dave (the honeymooners)

What a great little island as it has the sugar cube – white houses and the narrow winding pedestrian street where you can discover the most delightful little shops. It is a small place only a few kilometres long and not all that much wider. These islands are not the far of the Turkish coast yet they have the typical Greek ...

We landed at our 2nd Greek Isle, Mykonos. (Which is my new name by the way, Mykonos Hensley) The legend of Mykonos is that Zeus was fighting giants, and after he killed that last one he threw them into the Aegean Sea, where they became entombed forever under the islands.

Another location that makes me feel old and reminds me that I don't have any of my "boys" traveling with me. Somehow a trip to Paradise/Super Paradise with Mr B. didnt sound like a good idea, so instead I took him to Delos. Again, a nice wind kept us from roasting alive and we were able to explore the "commercial center of the wo...
