The city is all
built from the same red mud so it has a gorgeous rosy glow and we loved it
straight away. It was very dusty and dry, lots of people about, and very clean.
We went into the old town, through thick outer walls and were dropped as close
as we could get to our riad with the car. Then we were told a guy would take us
further, and he put our bags on a trolley. Too quick and then we were off,
knowing by the end he would ask for a tip even ...

THE ONLY WAY IS UUUUUUUUUUUP BABY....

From the fun flats of Marrakech...we made our way to the High Atlas mountains for well...mountains of magnificent hiking and views.

Jebel Toubkal stands at 4200m above sea level and at that is the highest most point in northern Africa and also a bit of a mission! We made it up the mighty mountain in a few days and did some sleeping, sun burning and Scrabble in there as well. An absolutely incredible adventure!

Back down and all set to embark on a road trip to Fez!

THE MADNESS OF MARRAKECH!!!

... magnificent mazes of Marakesh. After the events of my manic few months back in Britain, i was up for a few days of down time but the city soon sucked me in.

Between BIG sleeps and snuggles with the resident cats, camp land lord and lovely courtyard at our hotel, we wound our way amongst the amazing stalls, scenery and scents of an awesome place.

Yalla Yalla!

... a shot... wow, drama. In the meantime, we all had to carry on like nothing happened and sleep under the skies, on the rugs, and hope the 'bug/scorpion/ant/spider/whatever' didn't attack us.

As you can guess, I came out unharmed.

Next morning we cameled back to base camp. The muscles were sore from the previous day however it was still pretty awesome, very chilled and peaceful. Despite another girl from the tour having a panic attack that she would fall off her camel ...

Marrakesh sidetrip was a great decision!

... Yesterday (and today) were 47C degree days; even the locals complained.

The best time to sightsee is in the morning when it’s coolest. We had another wonderful breakfast beside the cold pool this morning at 9am – lots of small dishes and breads, some hot, some cold. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is to die for, as is the big carafe of French press coffee.

Our destination was the large Jardins ...

A fairytale city

... be an incredible picture to shoot at each and every corner, but the people here really get a fit when you take a picture of them. The Egyptians seemed far more relaxed about this. Pull out a camera here and you will feel like a rapist in a monastery. No telephoto lens is long enough. They will spot you. I started shooting out of the hip like John Wayne, without looking through the viewfinder, but I got caught. When ...

... was still the odd bracelet and earrings I had seen that I wanted! And we went in search of the dyers markets where a young man managed to somehow after showing us around and taking us up to have a better look at the dyers - sell us a expensive scarf, though not really £5 but compared to actual stalls but in the end I guess we were paying to take photos and have a look around where we could normally not get to. We also headed to the gardens and the ...

ah Kiwis! Bigwelcome to Marrakech

Nath says: Okay, it's time I started writing about our travels. We started out in Tangier, where the ferry dropped us from Algeciras in Spain. We tried to find our way from the train station to the central city to explore for a few hours before our train, but got hopelessly lost. We ended up having a meal in a part of town not used to seeing white people, but struck up a good conversation with a local teacher who was at the next table. He commented on how pale Clem was, 'but ...
