Dream Come True

It is hard for me to actually put into words what it was like to go to Angkor Wat. I heard about it for the first time in an Archaeology class that I took years ago and became more familiar with it through things like the Tomb Raider movies. It is a site that most people would recognize, even if they didn't know the name of it and it could easily …

Cooking Lesson

Today I cooked. My lesson was at 10, where I was met by a guy called Hak who took me round the market to see, once again (as I have been to many markets!) Ladies atop tables selling thingsholding a plastic bag to ward off flies, women beating fish, frogs, eels, whatever else is around, over the head then skinning them alive. Plucked chicken still …

09:12 After hearing how tired I am, you can imagine my joy at hearing the jangly music at 545am. Dont get me wrong, I like local jangly music, but seriously? Not at that hour when my legs already feel like they're about to drop off and I need matchsticks to keep my eyes open. I put the other pillow over my head, making a head sandwich, it didn't …

Day of much needed sleep and rest

13:20 Slept until 12 then sat on my bed watching tv, sorting out pictures and blog updates. Spent the entire day just in bed resting, my muscles ached and I just felt like all my energy had been sucked out. My eyes gave up around 9pm and I went back to sleep.

13:35 Ah, Siam Reap today and the Internet returns to my life again. I am sad to hear that my dear friend and lodger, Andrew's cat, Mojo, who also lived with me, has died. He was very young and a lovely wee playful cat, I especially liked the game that involved him sitting in a plastic bag and clawing his way out of it, oh and him crawling under …

clean hotel, but not too much character. very quiet place, hardly any guests. Power went out in the middle of the night on our 2nd night. we had no A/C or fan so we tossed and turned in pools of sweat. miserable

Ta Som provided us with everything we needed & more during our trip to Cambodia. Cheap lodging, decent rooms with hot water & AC, free breakfasts, free tuk tuk rides to town, and decently priced tours to the Angkor Wat temples.

    Highly recommended!
