... and that we will be able to see Australia from up there. The view is spectacular. I take the spiral staircase up to the top of the bell tower. There are lots of bells and some of them are very big. My timing is bad. The bells start ringing and my head spends the next ten minutes vibrating. We drive on to the capital, Victoria, and stop for a coffee and the obligatory pastizzi. Louis takes me into the building next door which houses the Ministry ...

... at Cirkewwa. The terminal seemed to be quite new and we got off the bus to board the large sized ferry. The trip to Gozo didn’t take long and we arrived in Mgarr on the other side. Gozo is smaller than Malta and only has 27,000 inhabitants.

The main town of Gozo, directly in the center, is the town of Victoria, and in Maltese is called Rabat. This is also an area of Malta that was not greatly influenced by the British, so traffic signs are usually only in Maltese. And most of the conversations we heard were not in English. This true of all the out lying areas away ...

A travel blog entry by nicolapollard on Aug 25, 2014

... 5am tomorrow so decided to suck it up and get a taxi. We managed to get the taxi man to knock €10 off the price because we told him we would be his best friend forever. We joked with him that we wanted to get there fast and he took this way too literally! He was driving like a maniac and far too fast! I told him twice to slow down and that we had been joking but he didn't seem to get the message until I yelled at him to slow down haha he got the message after that ...
