He was also dismayed to find that we had just missed an exhibition of Seurat's which closed in early Sept. ... out we'd been upgraded to a deluxe room, which we soon found out meant climbing up a ladder into the roof to get to the bed - we've been told this is typical in many apartments and homes in Holland (so we were happy we were living like the locals for two days or so). ... were getting too heavy at this point. Turns out we didn't want the metro, we wanted a tram and we found this our when a lovely transport worker man stopped to help us work the ticket machine. ... was a bit of a downer but we were all prepared with brollies so it wasn’t too bad.
