... tiles. There is the Stadhuis dated 1616 which now houses a restaurant within it and opposite is an old small weigh-house with the old weighbridge outline still shown in the road. Inside the weigh-house it is decorated with more paintings like the Delft tiles outside done by the same artist and also books and pictures showing his other works including the tail of an aeroplane. We had a walk round this very small ...

    Day 1

    Tues 1/07/14

*Day 1 starts well after a great night's sleep. We had both felt really tired arriving in Harwich – we must have been living on adrenalin for quite a few weeks. SG manages her first test in navigation – reaching the ferry terminal. Not difficult since the Premier Inn is practically within the terminal area.

Quiet day at John and Tienekes. Slept late, then Lola came home for lunch. It is strange that most of the children still come home for lunch and on Wednesday they only go to school in the morning. Must be a nightmare if you work full time and don't have family to help out. Tieneke and I walked to the school to pick her up after school and she played silly games with Gary and sang songs. Leonie has a virus so Maurice stayed for dinner before taking her ...

    going to be a challenge.

With this blog I hope to create an account of this period of my life and
also to use it as a way to keep my friends and family posted. I will be writing
in English, mainly because it’s good practice, but also because it’s more
accessible to others who might be interested in reading about my first year as
    a TEFL teacher.
