Heading north, we passed through Lichtenau and of course had to stop at 7 Sommerfeld Strasse, our first home away from home (1975-78) The Murphy gang might remember that there was an Edeka grocery ...

The Romans established a settlement at this location on the Rhine about 2000 years ago and it has has continuous settlement ever ...

... man on one of his tours who was a pilot at the time and said they were told not to level it... Whether it is right or not doesn't matter but what a tragedy if it had have been destroyed.

What else was a surprise was the amount of Roman Ruin that is still around in this City... quite amazing. They have actually built a museum over a completely intact roman mosaic floor... we looked at it through the glass window of the Museum absolutely beautiful. All over ...

Just wanted to add Cologne to the map.
Although we didn't go into the town, we were lucky however where the ship was docked, our cabin was on the wharf side & straight across from us we had a view of the two steeples of the Church. It was a pity we couldn't explore the town.
The ship set off about 9.45pm for Nijmegan
