What is the one thing that builds up the coldness in Finns - lack of sauna, I tell ya!!
Tonight I finally managed to get myself to take a bus for 5 mins and go check out the Wroclaw Aquapark, and especially the sauna section there. Last weekend I had a Mexican pre-Xmas party with some of the Finnish ladies living in Wroclaw, and heard some very good comments about the saunas in the Aquapark. Now, I hate to admit this, but I've been living here for over half a year now but guess I ...
We booked the flights!!!! We'll be taking a train to Prague and then flying to New Delhi via Istanbul on 26th February 2010. I can't even imagine first 6,5h in train and then 2,5+6h in the plane, gosh... I think I'll run out off my jokes and Aneta off her sense of humour well before getting there :-D
Neither of us had dared to request holidays for the ...
... goes from flat to rolling. The farmers are all out doing their harvest, the big combine is going and trucks are waiting for the grain. Not quite as big an operation as at home on the prairies with several combines going at once. It seems quite early to be combining too.
The drive out of Germany is on the major highway, once into Poland it becomes a narrower road. They are working on extending the highway, it just ...
... already cause I didn't really like any of the them and then...... I was home! I found a beautiful, beautiful 1-room flat in the city centre, close to work and in an ok price. Wohoo!! I believe I was also fortunate to find out the landlady spoke perfect English, really couldn't have been more lucky.
I moved in 2 days later. Everything got sorted so quickly afterall that it felt like I had been here much longer than a week already.
... I had to ask one lady for directions. Of course, she didn't speak a single word of English nor I did Polish.. Our conversations was very polite and short. I started to get fairly nervous because it was almost 9 o'clock and I was still in that bloody tram. Thank god, I found a girl in there who spoke atleast a bit of English and she told me to get off the tram on the next stop.
9am at ul.Grabyszynska 232 and I was looking for number 163. There was ...
... the oldest part of Wrocław. It's a small medieval island on the Odra river, the second largest river of Poland. Ostrów Tumski has got a Gothic cathedral that looks stunning in the winter in the snow falling down, and at night when it is mirrored in the river. It's worth mentioning, however, that during the off-season the towers are not lit past 2:00 a.m., which can turn out slightly disappointing ...
Wroclaw, Western Poland, Poland translucent... night lights & then have dinner. Tonight we need to repack our bags, in order to move around the weight, hoping to avoid the low weight allowance (15 kg) and high excess baggage charges (10 pounds per kg or part thereof) on Ryan Air tomorrow. Tomorrow lunch time we fly from Wroclaw to Liverpool (England) & then hire a car to drive to Preston. I can't believe that this part of our trip is nearly over, and that tomorrow evening we will be with family. Good night to you from Kerry & David in Wroclaw
Wroclaw, Western Poland, Poland austega... buildings as if I were a Krzysztof Kieślowski character. As the sun started to set and people were returning from their jobs I spent some time trying to look invisible and imagining what each one of them could be thinking, how they felt, what kind of mood they had, etc. I spent maybe a couple of hours there and then, when night had fell already, returned to the hostel. Back to the hostel I met Laura, an American girl, Richard, an ...
Wroclaw, Poland gbasilioA week or so in Poland starting in Wroclaw then heading east to Krakow. Wroclaw was probably my favourite place on this trip. The people were lovely, the sun shine, the buildings were gorgeous and the time here was generally super...... Here is part of an e-mail I sent after visiting: We caught a train to Wroclaw and I fell in love with the place. a lot of it was destroyed ...
Wroclaw, Poland sarahtravelling... On the first day we could only catch a glimpse of it, so we went earlier the next morning to get a closer view. The whole set-up seemed to be a big money-making operation. Collection boxes were everywhere as were invitations to make donations. All tourist information, toilets, etc. had to be paid for. And all the nearby bars and restaurants were run by the monastery, and not particularly good value. At least the ...
