Day 1- Mar. 15

Day 1- Today I arrived in Germany. I am staying at a very nice hotel. It's called the Swissotel Berlin. After leaving the airport I didn't get to see much. I'm going to get a good night sleep after that long flight and begin my journey tomorrow. Money Left: $10000 -$679 -$907.69 =$8314.31 =5337.56 Euros

Day 2- Mar. 16

Day 2- I awoke at 8:15 am. I got dressed and headed down stairs to get my complimentary breakfast, courtesy of the Swissotel. After breakfast I planned to visit the Berlin Cathedral. I learned that it was built between 1893 and 1905. It was the main church of Prussian Protestantism. After my 2 hour visit to the Cathedral, I got lunch. I went to a place called Treffpunkt Berlin. It was delicious. After lunch I decided to see one more thing today, the Charlottenburg Palace. It was Built as a su...

The metamorphasis of an old City - the New Berlin

Our time in Berlin has been a step into the future, to a certain extent. Here, in Berlin, the world has been transformed as recently as the early 90's since the fall of the Wall in 1989. It's amazing to think that in 1989 (in our lifetime - in times where we can still recall what was going on in our lives), Berlin was going through a re-birth. The result of this is a city that combines both the old and the new in more ways than we've seen. It's just not the really old and the new, but the old...

Perfect.

Fantastic hotel! From the greeting at the door, thru check in and delivery of bags, service can't be faulted. How nice to be treated as a 5 star hotel guest! Nothing was ever too much trouble. The rooms are large, particularly the bathrooms, and well furnished. Location is excellent just on the K'damn with all services close by. I didn't get breakfast at the hotel, so can't comment. Like the previous user, I used Dunkin' Donuts and checked my email at the same time ;)

Great Location, Beautiful Hotel, Excellent Staff

Stayed in this hotel for our Anniversary. I booked a standard room, but was given a complimentary upgrade. We stayed two nights, and on the second night, we came back to see that our sheets and pillow cases had been changed to "Special sheets", and a bowl of fruit and Tulips - obviously for our Anniversary, that was a lovely touch. The hotel is walking distance to the main shops and attractions, and the Christmas Market that was fantastic. The Hotel is spacious, quiet, and like all the Swissotels, has your own coffee and tea brewing.

If you go to Berlin, stay at this Hotel! We surfed the internet and wer able to pay approx £70 per night.

Best location, great return on money, sparkling clean and beautiful

Location is super - right on KuDamm, practically standing on a subway station, many nice places to eat shop drink and have fun within a few moments walk. Across the street a very big internet cafe, with Dunkin Donuts - a great place to start the day or end it catching up on emails. The hotel is modern and beautifully designed. The rooms are superb and very well furnished. Everything we needed was right there in the room including complimentary espresso machine. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Construction next door

from A TripAdvisor Member
there is construction going on across the street which begins at 7am and goes on all day until sometimes 9pm .. the rooms try to be soundproof but it doesn't keep out the noise from the site .. not a restful place during the day .. otherwise excellent

Spiffy Swiss

My partner and I had won a trip to Germany including airfare and hotel.

When we arrived at our hotel in Berlin we knew we had to make a change so out we went to find a better hotel. After much investigation all over Berlin we decided upon the Swiss and were glad to have done so.

The hotel is new and modern with the main entrance on the 2nd floor to keep the Ku'dam crowds out of the lobby. The front desk and bellman were first rate. They were kind, courteous, and efficient without being either stuffy or cold. The curved shape room was fab. Great bathroom with two sinks, separate shower and tub and very nice amenities. The room had a sweeping view of the Berlin skyline looking east. There was ample desk space if one needed to do work, a CD player, medium sized television, high speed interenet for a fee and best of all a complimentary personal espress machine. We decided to pay the extra few euros and go for the Club/Executive Lounge floor. Now, some may not like that sort of thing but we actually found it a very good value.

Meal service in the lounge includes breakfast, light lunch, and evening snacks. There is also an OPEN bar with non-stop Veuve Cliqout champagne available! The lounge itself is medium sized with a wide screen television, ample comfy seating, and a receptionist/conciege who can help you with anything you might desire. A more graciously appointed buffet breakfast may also be taken in the restaurant instead of in the lounge at no extra cost. There is a smallish gym for body maintenance and business room with computers, fax, etc. A great location, great rooms and amenities, and great staff. Do stay.

Contemporary Hotel. Great facility. Near Zoo station. Great location in Charlottenberg. Great staff. We left a cell phone and it was on its way to us in a few hours.

Wireless Internet for $12.50 per day.

Perfect location, perfect service

In the summer of 2002 I stayed two nights at the Swissotel Berlin. I payed about 150 $ including buffet breakfast per night. The Swissotel Berlin is just perfectly located in the western part of Berlin. Famous Ku'damm shopping mile is just around the corner and a subway station is located directly beneath the hotel. The hotel itself is designed in a very modern way. The Lobby is located on the third floor and you reach it via a glass elevator lifting you up from the entrance hall. On the lobby level there are the front desk, an atrium-style lobby lounge, a business center and the very good Mosimann's restaurant. After check-in we went to our guest room facing the interior courtyard, not as nice as rooms with Ku'damm view, but very quiet of course. Our room was very nice with a room height of at least 9 feet, so you don't feel like staying in a box as in many other hotels. The room featured everything one can expect from a 5-star hotel including a comfortable bed, large screen television, well layouted bathroom and a very good desk for business work. My girlfriend especially liked the complimentary in-room Espresso-machine. Service throughout the hotel was professional, fast and friendly. I would even call it extraordinary. What I liked most about this hotel was the buffet breakfast at Mosimann's restaurant. The selection, quality and presentaion of the breakfast was just great and because the hotel was not very well booked at the time we stayed there we had the chance to sit at one of the few tables on the restaurant's terrace. We enjoyed the sun, watched the people and traffic down at Ku'damm and received our cooked-to-order omelettes. All in all a perfect stay at a perfect hotel. I can absolutely understand that this hotel is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World.

Great location, great rooms

from skimple
Had three nights in May 03, and absolutely loved the hotel.

Exceptionally clean, and I always love the classy Scandinavian decor.

Rooms are good sized and well-kept. Small, but free, business center.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Good security entrance keep through traffic out. Can't beat the location! There's a subway drop two minutes from the front door, and great bars and restaurants everywhere.

Don't pay for the "executive upgrade" unless you really want the access to the lounge. You can find breakfast much cheaper nearby. I paid ~$200 night for a double, which was reasonable. I wouldn't pay much more though.

A very nice hotel indeed! A great spot in Berlin. The facilities are a bit limited but the staff are great.

Nice, but that's it

I stayed two times at the new Swissôtel in Berlin and enjoyed it. Location is perfect and the restaurant is very good. Standard and Service are average and the interior design is more boring than interesting. But all in all not a bad place to stay.
