Bahnhofstrasse Zermatt, Valais, Swiss Alps, Switzerland, 3920, 27-966-6555
Destination 405

km197'555

Not entirely shure, if I spend my last day in a foreign country, I head towards north. A stopover at Novi Ligure provides me finally the opportunity to send a notification to all family and friends about my remaining itinerary before return back home. The date has been fixed to the 29.
The ride up to Vercelly in the low lands was not that exciting like the sighting of the mountain of Mont Blanc in the far. Since my ...
Liddes, Valais, Switzerland pajas... the casualties of the Matterhorn.
Zermatt itself is tiny, with only electric taxis. It is much colder than Lauterbrunnen even though it's on the border of Italy.
Switzerland is strange. It has no language of its own. In Bern, Lauterbrunnen and Zermatt they speak German but in Montreux they speak French, even the train announcements change languages. It gets confusing, so I just stick to greeting people in English most of the time. When I had arrived here I was fuming a bit because I ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland tonkin... We enjoyed an ok meal considering, and asked for our bill.

At the same time this guy that was sitting behind us got his bill and started carrying on in Italian at the owner. We think he may have been a bit drunk and Witek could understand a little bit of it and said that he was apparently complaining that his wine had cost him 8 euro for the glass! He was creating quite a scene and the waiter invited him inside to discuss the matter further. As he stood up he ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kimmykak... So I was keeping an eye open for a policeman, and spotted a whole police station( or should I say Carabinieri)!! There must be one in there, we thought. And it's definitely worth stopping. We got a place to park (probably not very legal, but we were following the Italian rules of the road by now), grabbed our Landy Rally T shirts, and went on the hunt for points. It lookead bit locked up, but as we poked around the gate, a couple of people came ...
Aosta, Aosta Valley, Italy dirtyweekenders... took Evie back up via the Tram to the top of the Klein Matterhorn just before the last ride at 4:30p. Along the way, they watched a parade of swiss dancers with typical accordian players as they paraded down main street as part of an annual traditional festival.

Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kramertown... it would be too much work to hold on to the t-bar with your arms, everyone puts the bar between their legs - hence the name. Actually, it really wasn't that bad. The biggest bruise I got was to my ego. I lost my balance the first time the bar came by - imagine a water skier not having his skis straight as the boat tries to pull them out of the water. It was a lot like that, except that there were 30 people right behind me to laugh ...
Zermatt, Switzerland jdet32Up until this point the most voted favorite for the trip thus far was Florence and certain places in Turkey but then we arrived in Zermatt via the Visp-Zermatt train. The town of Zermatt is like a winter wonderland full of snow covered chalets that sits below the Matterhorn. It has been snowing for a while here and everything is snow covered. The roads, the parks, the buildings, the trees everything. Zermatt can only be reached by rail and there are ...
Zermatt, Switzerland callow1234... amongst the wild flowers with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn soaring above me, and stayed their most of the day revising my French books for an up an coming test whilst listening to the water cascading from a glacier waterfall a few steps away. The weather was perfect, the field was full of blue and white wild flowers and l sat and revised for my French test in the most amazing study surroundings one could ever wish for!!!
Zermatt, Switzerland mimmy21... way to their apartment door. It scores brownie points for your country. ------------------- ------------------- I caught an earlier train back from Zermatt to Geneva, just so I could look out the train while there was still sunlight. Unfortunately, a low cloud was hanging over the whole lake, so I couldn't see the sun setting again. Even this little setback couldn't stop me staring out the window in a trance, for practically the whole 3.5hr trip to the airport. Enjoy :)
