HAPPY MOHAMMED's BIRTHDAY, KENNY ROGERS and DOING IT MONKEY-STYLE. Up very early (for me) to catch the train to the airport. It seems school kids here go to school at 6.30am.... arrived at KL and it is all over the shop. KL is completely unstructured, and has a very confusing train system. The Hotel Swiss Garden had no booking for me (doh!) so they had to check up what had gone wrong with the internet service I used - so they put me in to a room on the Swiss Priveledge Executive Level.... swa...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia adrianmurrayWe've been in Malaysia now for jus over 12 hours, surprisingly its different.. we reached the border around 5pm Thailand time and had to pay a 10 baht fee, for those who overstayed in Thailand it was a 500 baht charge per day!! Damn!! Weird feeling was losing an hour in less than a second, I knew instanly that we was in another country, ok maybe cos there was Malaysian flags dotted around the place, but call me crazy the atmosphere and roadworks where different, from the border it took about ...
Penang, Malaysia chlara23The bus we got on in Krabi was supposed to leave at 7am and get us to Kuala Lumpur for 10pm.... did it get us there for 10? no, of course not, we are in Asia. We didn't arrive til 12, and to make matters worse we didn't know that the time goes forward an hour, so we really arrived at 1!! Luckily we had booked a swanky hotel (the first in a long time) so it had a 24 hour reception! Our Hotel was absolutely lush! We had free internet, a swimming pool, SEPERATE BEDS!!! That was the best bit as m...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia hellizacWe booked ourselves onto the midday bus from the Lavendar bus terminal in Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (known as KL in South East Asia) where we intended to get a quick taste of the Malaysian capital before heading north overland to Thailand. The bus journey was great and included air con, reclining seats, loads of leg room and a boxed lunch. After getting through the border crossing relatively easy (it would have helped if they had given us an immigration card to fill in before we got there) we...

On Friday the 23rd the group of us decided to hire scooters and ride around the Langkawi Island. This is the only way of getting around other than taking a taxi as there is no public transport at all. Fortunately though it is rediculously cheap at around $15 AUD for 24 hrs on a nice new 150cc scooter. Having been to parts of SE Asia before I really hadn't seen myself getting on a scooter, however the traffic and roads on Langkawi are actually very good so i thought why not. The first stop was...
Penang, Malaysia marelitKL....KC(in joke for Yasmin)...K pasa? Friday: We arrived rather late and met the Jamals at the hotel and nattered for an hour or so (with rather loud background music and party noise)before crashing out(been a hard week of teaching!). Saturday: long chatty breakfast, then a tour - Batu caves (inhabited by monkeys)...272 steps to Buddhist Temple in limestone cliffs, Independence square (complete with cricket wicket), National Mosque, King's Palace, etc. Luckily, although it was hot, there was...
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia thedunckleysMalaysia Day One I think this may have been one of the longest days of my life. So we woke up this morning at like 8 because we were suppose to leave for our trip at 840. At 805 we got an announcement from the assistant dean. She said that in the middle of the night something happened with the boat so we would be delayed on our arrival for a little while. Well I got a little nervous but I looked out the window and we were still moving so I figured this was a good sign. We decided since we wer...
