We woke up to a lovely sunny day. Had a lovely breakfast in the hotel and then walked down the block to Changchun Zoo. We had hoped to see some pandas, but were unlucky. Several of the animals were in very small cages and it was a bit distressing, particularly the poor polar bear.

Apparently the Emperor was only allowed to spend 2 hours with any one of his courtesans, so a eunuch would be posted outside the bedroom to tell him when time was up! A lot of us are planning to go out and buy specific things (I plan on sniffing out chopsticks) and possibly trying out some traditional Chinese medicine. On the menu tonight is sushi as a celebratory dinner. By the way, sushi here is so much cheaper than in America and it's not super sketchy, either.
