... shop in Hayes...stopped at a the Firetender Trading Post in Russell...saw a couple of storm chaser vehicles (didn’t get a picture of the one that looked like a tank)....saw THOUSANDS of wind turbines for a 40 mile stretch east of Hayes...got into the motel in Salina around 6...went to dinner at Hickory Hut BBQ for great ribs...back to the motel to ...

behind a long-since picked over field. It's picturesque the way the black dirt
clumps under the bodies of dead, discolored husks. That's not to say that the

wheat pockmarked by (yes) mud puddles, the foot high corn stalks just taking ...

We had a nice evening meal together talking politics and enjoying the company of good friends. Everyone must ask Cal about the April fools prank the girls pulled on him the second night in the city. We finally spilled the beans.....but really had all three of the guys hooked.....Was a great "gotcha" moment to savour !
Homeward bound ...
We are trying to drive as much as possible for the next few days. Today's journey took us from St. Louis, Missouri, to Salina, Kansas.
