Arrived in Sanur, Bali after a mammoth 20 hour journey from London, absolutely knackered, but looking forward to nearly 3 weeks of solid scuba-diving. This was my 2nd visit to Bali, my first one being in September 2005. After checking into the lovely Swastika Bungalows in Sanur village, the first thing i realised was that i had forgotten to pack all my Dive ID cards & log books. Bugger. Thats torn it. Thankfully there was a savior in Kirsty at home, who managed to grab by Dive ID cards, s...

Sanur, Bali, Indonesia:
I am still catching up from the jet lag of the plane, hence the reason I haven't really written until this day. Mother, Zac and the French students ( Adrien, Kevin, and Adriens girlfriend Justine) arrived at the Denpasar airport on Sunday, 12.30pm Indonesian time. We arrived to obtain our visas rather quickly, however, the time to get everything checked was very long, hot and exhausting. After this we went through customs, we were find...

... at 7. So, we get to DD's at 6:01 and they aren't open yet, so we have a seat on the front step and wait...and wait...and wait...until around 7:00 when we finally got in to have our $1 breakfast special (half of a croissant sandwich, and a coffee - we also added in a donut or two).

Those were the exciting times of Sanur.

On to Bondowoso.
Sanur, Bali, Indonesia chelseyandkevinNegara was my favorite trip outside Ubud. I was invited by Ketut and Nyoman. They were taking a three day trip to visit her family. It was so much fun we stayed almost a week.

Ketut and Nyoman showed me village life that I never saw on my own. Families enjoying santai saja together. Men hanging around warungs ...
Nagara, Indonesia eric... he did it, but he did it every morning for luck and was worried to take the chance not to do it. Simple story but I think it reflected a lot of Bali and Lombengan that I saw. The belief in the dark and the light is strong and the evil spirits are truly feared. All so complicated and spooky to me. It seems the first few days everyone I met was either a 'healer', an author, or someone who had come to Bali to either be healed or to study how to ...
Sanur, Indonesia everywhere... from our porch. Two beds were lined with mosquito tarps, providing an aura of cleanliness. We set our things down, had lunch, and then went off to book the scuba diving for the next day. After setting up everything we would do the next day, we went to the pool of another hotel that we were allowed to use. The infinity pool looked out directly to the ocean in front of us. The cool water refreshed my body. We lay by the pool, slept, read, and wrote in our journals ...
On s'ennuit ...
Sanur, Bali, Indonesia france_rejean... that seemed to say get lost. I spent a few more days in Bali and found myself really enjoying the place. As far as an all-in-one warm weather holiday destination goes, Bali pretty much has it all. With its perfect climate, beautiful beaches, volcano viewing and rich, interesting culture one would be hard pressed to find a better location, especially when you consider all of these things are within a couple of hours drive of one another. The only place I can think of that's ...
Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia nomadic1... We got onto the boat and found a place to sit on deck. Once everybody was on board, we set off. We were given some banana fritters and bought drinks - Strawberry Fanta, which is extremely popular over here. Some time later, it was announced that the buffet dinner, which was included in the ticket price, was being served. We had a bit to eat, then sat on deck for a while longer. Eventually, we saw the approaching ...
Padang Bai, Indonesia jacobandkirsty... men all took turns tending to the kids whenever they got bored or fussy, one even gave him a bottle for the Mom (who was a little nervous with it all at first, but my the end of the meal didn't even look when one of the men came over and swooped up the baby.) I've never seen anything like it, just so much unbridled affection coming from the Balinese, it's washes over the whole place. How anyone could not be happy here is a mystery.
