Teacher Appreciation Day in Vietnam

... quiet. I'm getting excited about coming home in three weeks. Hotel living is becoming a pain. When I return in January I will rent an apartment for sure.

And on the domestic scene here there were no major conflicts other than when a woman sold me a pineapple for 10 cents more than a Vietnamese would pay. Lam lit into her like the woman had just stolen my life savings. Even the people in the street stopped to listen. I've learned to live with it...in more ways than one.

Around the World in 80 Parasites

... I got my money’s worth out of my travel insurance with bills topping 1700 Euros! Again Kristian was amazing and even held my IV bag while singing to me in the toilet so I could pee… haha…

So we’re off today on the night bus for Hoi An. I think we’ve been pretty lucky so far to fall in love with most places. It was bound to happen that we would come across a place we’ ...

Valdigt kul sadant, vagar pa over tva meter slog over en. Man hade inte en suck, langde ...

Aye aye aye!!!

... how convenient. Buses on the highways here are not supposed to go faster than 50 kms an hour because the roads are shoddy at best. That is why a trip covering 530 kms was taking 8-12 hours by road (mind you, it's the same length of time by train, go figure).

When we got to Nha Trang and the hoodlums removed our backpacks and dumped them in the middle of the street, Pierre's bag was covered in oil. He yelled at them but they ...

Good Morning Vietnam

... br>While we were on our way home the heavens opened and i have never seen such a down pour. literally inside 15mins the streets and roads were 3inches under water and we were soaked through. Good though as really warm rain.

tomorrow i am going snorkeling due to the weather, it is really bad visibility and it was suggested that it would not be a good time to go diving. plus no one else is Padi qualified on my trip. Looks like i will have to wait till Australia to dive.

... was competing with the movie.
Luckily we passed the time with a few beers and games of cards - so it wasn't as bad as we first thought.
We were all pretty knackered after the LONG day - so had dinner and an early night for a change.

Off on a boat trip today ... we went around 4 islands with a bit of snorkelling and swimming inbetween... and of course a few beers.
Lunch was ...

Nha Trang is Nhice!!

... obviously! :-D

Suddenly we realised that we had less time on our visa than possible, so this would be our last day in Nha Trang, and we would not make it to Delat..... But we did make it to dinner at the same restaurant, and ate Bobs friend!!

Unfortunately the next day we were off to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh) for what would be the second to last leg of our wonderful journey down Vietnam!!!

Sun, sea and sand, Vietnamese style

... and the fact we would have had to pay extra, we stayed on our boat, along with everyone else. Next was snorkeling round the coral reef at the second island. This was Alice's first experience of snorkeling, a good taster for the diving I'm hoping we do when we get to the Thai islands. At the third island we moored up and were entertained by three guys calling themselves a band. As bad as they were, it was entertaining. Food was served, and Alice's stomach started to turn from ...

We took the elusive TRAIN down to Nha Trang, but we had to first get a taxi from Hoi An to Danang 30 minutes and soooo worth it. I say elusive because for some reason none of the tour operators want to sell you a train, perhaps they want all the smelly backpackers and tourists on the bus? I have no idea, they pretend to call the train station and then say they are all full up, so we had to walk to the train ...
