Hemingford Regatta

We are now moored up in Hemingford Grey where we used to live, ready for the Regatta later today. It is the oldest village regatta in the country and only residents of Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots can take part in the rowing, canoeing or punt races. There are 170 - 180 races planned for all ages from 7 to 70, so it should be a great day, especially as the weather is playing it's part as well.

Made it to Bedford

We are now setting off, retracing our steps and are homeward bound, just two and half months to get there!

Cardington Lock just outside Bedford was a bit of a surprise, one of the deepest we have come across, anywhere. The water didn't come in through the gates at the end of the lock as it normally does, it comes in at the side , wow that made it interesting.

Anyway I signed in to the local surgery as I hadn't been feeling the best. Funny seeing all the locals all the same or very ...

... key decisions for our C2C team.........Steve will not be our first aider! There we were at the half way point, enjoying a drink and a sandwich, when I managed to start choking on a tuna-mayo mouthful. While silently gasping for breath and contemplating a premature end in the middle of nowhere, Steve (rather than rush to perform the Heimlich Manoeuvre), happily kept munching away on his own ...

The last few days

... but find one we did and I watched tennis most of the day, no surprises there. Bryan saw an amusing little scene when he went off to find out the time of the church service tomorrow. There were a number of Canada geese with their young out and about on the water. They obviously got too close to a swan's nest and the swan was seeing them off. The geese got out of the water and started up the hill to get away from the irate swan and interrupted a herd ...
