Back to reality
... So after 11 hours to Shanghai, 17 hours in Shanghai, 13 hours to London, 1½ hour from Heathrow to St Pancras train station, 2 hours to Nottingham, and one taxi ride I was back home. Exhausted, but quite pleased to be back. And at the time (and still to a certain extent) the thought of doing the trip down to London and get on another flight in less than two weeks was not very appealing. ...

I have now booked the hotel for the trip to Hong Kong. We are staying in the Wan Chai at the South Pacific Hotel. Looks a nice place. Not cheap though. I have ended up paying more for the flights and hotel than in previous years. The days of a flight to Hong Kong for under £400 have well and truly gone!!

I didn't tell a soul I was coming back home. I just got the plane to Birmingham International, got the train to Derby Train station and a taxi home- had my house keys and some money to be able to make it home.
I arrived back at home at 2pm, I had missed my mum by 30 minutes as she had already left for work and wasn't back until 9pm. First thing I did was go and speak to the parrots the eldest one Mitz recognised me and was chirping away ...
