    ... up, busy ringing! The real reason though is a piece broke off during the fire of 1737 and stands beside it, as do the hundreds of tourists wanting their photo taken! Guilty! The Tsar Cannon, the largest calibre cannon in the world, with cannon balls that don’t actually fit the cannon keeping it company, stands nearby. Not a single shot was fired from the cannon.

    ... night was no exception. With both our sets of parents at the house, we didn’t manage to get any sleep – packing our bags for the first time in the early hours of Thursday morning.

    ... Nazi victory medals ready to give out on the day of victory. His victory obviously never happened and all the medals were discovered by Russian troops. All two carriages worth of medals are on display as part of their victory memorial.

    Outside was a huge display of military equipment, like tanks, helicopters, jets, rocket launchers etc. and so on! You'd love it Col! It was actually a bit overwhelming, what with the events of the last week still fresh in our minds.

    ... this simple bar was very trendy. To ask for the bill you say "shot" roughly translates a "women" so if you want a beer it's "women, beer" Charlie kindly explained the art of Russian language that they often drop the joining words. On our walk back to the hostel we got taken to one last hidden gem a supermarket. Unlike any other - more like the food hall in Harrods with the price tag of any normal shop. We stoked up on chocolate, Charlie ended up helping a lady decide what to get ...
