    ... Basically it's an illuminated glass coffin in a granite tomb on Red Square where they've kept his body preserved for the past 90 years for people to look at. Not really sure what purpose this serves anymore.

    There seemed to be loads going on in Moscow. We found trendy little markets, violin concerts, busy parks and the ubiquitous arty cafe district development in some old factories and the people were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful.

    At 1.00 pm today we finally arrived in Moscow. The scenery as we got closer became more and more urban, although there were still plenty of trees right down to the water until we were well into the suburbs. The Russian people living close to the rivers and canals have obviously been enjoying the beautiful weather, with people swimming and sunbaking, plenty of people fishing, and many people camping on the banks and on the islands in the rivers.

    Got up early determined to get to Moscow or at least spitting distance. Will be coming in from the east, and heading for the SW corner, but more of that later. Disappointed when up thick fog, much worse than yesterday coupled with horrible drizzle. Set of pace slow, about 40mph winding up and down hills through thick pine forests, no views with visibility down to about 40 metres.     ... it, so I allowed myself to keep accelerating as they did to get in a faster mile. About halfway in they went properly ahead, but then slowed and I closed, feeling pretty good about my pace-low 6s, for sure. Just then another runner came floating by, on the road to my path, making it look easy. I passed him a few hundred metres further on, so I suspect he was doing intervals but still, he must have kept to a decent pace to have stayed close enough to me that a rep was quick enough ...
