... so often to see the view over the vast ocean or to feel the sand under your feet. Whatever it is , it is a good way to spend summer days, even if the air feels a bit like April. Today we woke up at Kelly's Marina to the sun and then the chitter chatter if a dozen Samoan gypsies. They were dancing, bathing, fishing ... We had some homemade continental breakfast and broke camp. (The tent was covered with earwigs.) I gave up on the idea of fishing since ...
Ok! So we are in Lincoln City warming up for the Bumper Sticker tour. I've figured out what to do each day at Yellowstone...now to figure out the daily itinerary at Glacier. We will be watching music tonight and just relaxing. It is absolutely gorgeous here at the beach today. However, I am ready for a good nap...coastal coma has officially taken hold of my inner body!!!
We moved the short distance here this morning, got a nice pull-thru site with full hookups, and Zach and I took off to walk on the beach after lunch.
Despite it being a cool and windy day, we thoroughly enjoyed sitting and watching the waves, and walking through the surf, taking pictures, watching the kites being flown by others on the beach and talking. So glad we moved here for the day!
... decided to go there for lunch. Two super cool places in one day. Ferg was like a little kid in a candy shop. He bought the shirt, the pint glasses, the stickers, the hoody. Haha, it was great. The food was fantastic, but the beer was likely the best experience of it all. Rogue beer is one of my favourites, the chocolate stout in particular.
We came home, I made a meal for dinner that we dubbed "Heather's Mess" that included bacon, a ...
... down to the river. It looked like a great place to go for a swim, or perhaps even some fly fishing. We got back to the motel and packed up our luggage on the bike then headed off on our ride for the day. We didn't have a destination in mind for today, we just wanted to make at least 200 miles, to minimise our ride to Portland tomorrow. We made it all the way to Lincoln City (Oregon), stopping a few times for lunch and to ...

Great Spot, Scary Practices
It is true that this hotel is great for its location and options. But be weary of recent hotel staff. I had requested a room several months back for its view and location. After several comfirmations of its reservation, I arrived to find that they had given it away and put me in a bad location. They did finally come through with a decent accomodation. But only after going to the top and after having the blame be put all on my shoulders, before they discovered they had given it away. I also witnessed several individuals having trouble with the staff charging them for extra stays in their hotel. It hurt our vacation time because we had to spend time fighting for our original room.
Right on the beach!
We stayed at the Surftides this spring and we found it very nice. We stayed on the first floor, so the beach was right outside our patio door.
We would stay here again.
My wife and I have been going to the Surftides for over 20 years. We love it! Close to the Casino, right on the beach and the best restaurant in town right next door! Pick bottom to be on the beach or upper floors views are excellent looking out into the ocean. Swimming pool and spa, lots for a family or just a couple for a romantic weekend.
This hotel has been the greatest out of all I've stayed in! The view was magnificent, the pool and hot tub was great and the food was delicious. The staff was very helpful and generous. I definately recommend this experience to everyone. You won't regret it!

Awesome family weekend getaway
Perfect for a family getaway with easy and low beach access! The view is awesome!!. So relaxing.
The perfect honeymoon getaway!
We stayed in one of the in-room jacuzzi suites on our honeymoon in 1994 and returned to the same room in summer of 2002. We loved it both times and the only changes that were made were made for the better. The staff is warm and friendly and the room was as wonderful as we remembered it to be. The facilities are kept very clean and the room service was excellent. We plan to return once a year from now on!
Great and relaxing
My family have stayed at this hotel for years. But their recent renovation makes the place even better. The location and the beach access is unbeatable on the coast. For my elderly parents or my little kids, the access is safe and short from the room. The hotel is also situated on a large piece of property so you don't feel cramped in with a bunch of parking lots or other hotels. Some of the units have kitchenettes so you can cook your own breakfast and lunch and go to the on-site restaurant for dinner. It's close to the main grocery store for added convenience. We recommend it highly!
