    ... we saw Common Loons with a baby and Trumpeter Swans (Travis and I got to add these to our Life Lists). The call of a Common Loon is by far my favorite bird call. Wee-ooo quee….. hoooo-lii!!! There was a seven mile driving tour that is nothing but wetlands and ponds on either side of the road. Our species list ended up not being very long but we only spent a brief amount of time at the refuge.

    Just leaving Wisconsin, Lake Superior and the clouds behind. lookin forward to seeing my hometown in about 4.5 hrs'! Mara just got back in the car after getting some food on a store and said "The people are so friendly"...This is not NY, Baby! I'm ready for a hometown ...

    ... Superior. It was built in 1910 after 29 ships were lost in1905. It gets rough in the lake. Lots to see there.

    We stayed at a lovely although slightly run-down camp on a beautiful lake. They call Minnesota the land of 10,000 lakes and we have seen many of them. It is a beautiful state.I must admit that the most I knew of it was that it gets below 40 degrees F in winter.

    Well, we arrived in Minnesota. We have spent the past week traveling around the state. Our first stop was Trails RV Park in Walker, Minnesota. It was a great little park, however, it was loaded with nature. Not the kind we liked to share the place with. It was full of army worms dropping from trees and crawling on everything.
