... thread arriving in Xining 3200 kilometers later. The predominant feature was desert and a lot of it. It the process, we circumscribed the great Tarim Basin along the edges of the Taklimakan Desert. It was populated by predominantly non-Han, Uyghur and Hui people. Now back in Qinghai, we are back in Han territory. From here, we turn south to see Tibetan towns in Qinghai, Gansu, and Sichuan provinces.

Tôt le matin nous nous sommes dirigés vers le cimetière qui est dans une montagne pour aller célébrer une tradition chinoise qui consiste à visiter les morts de la famille et leur apporter ce dont ils auront besoin pour passer l'hiver: nourriture, vêtements, alcool, cigarettes, fleure, argent et même la presse!

The ceremony of his burial took around 20 hours and was simply amazing, but hard to describe. More and more local Tibetans came, and I never felt more being an alien than here. People just crowded around us and stared at us for as long as they could. Ivan, who speaks mandarin could talk to some of them, though mostly they only speak Tibetan.
