Beer fest!

Today we were unable to go to the lavender fields like we had planned, so we improvised. Sapporro being the beer capital of Japan, we headed to the beer museum. Fascinating though it was, we were still below Japan's drinking age and therefore felt a little left out of the festivities. The beer museum was adjacent to a crazy huge shopping mall and we needed some lunch, so we decided to head in. We grabbed some ...

Cold weather, slides, and ski jumps

We emerged from our miserably long train ride exhausted, groggy, unshowered, and...freezing?! Apparently we were farther north than we had realized. Our second problem involved a the time. We stumbled out of the train station at around 630 am. Our hotel check-in time was 4 pm. We were able to dump our bags at the hotel, but we had to find somewhere to go for the next several hours. We grabbed some ...

We should keep remembering how cruel those were, but again, not to blame, but not to forget for our future.
There are still many wars and violence going on in the world. Japan and Japanese people really should take this role to send the message out to the world, "war is not the answer, violence wouldn't solve anything in a long run".
Many individuals including Mr. Shigeru Kayano who became a politician later fought about this project. The dam was built, but during the court session, Sapporo regional court mentioned about Ainu people as the indigenous people. That was the very first recognition of the national level about them. Since then, Hokkaido ...

The 100 Yen Post

We're in Sapporo now and it's absolutely amazing. However the hostel is charging ten yen per freaking minute to use the internet - which adds up to roughly $10 AUD an hour. So there won't be any further posts until we reach Tokyo again in another three days.

Missing you all,
Tom and Rachael
... lifted my spirits a bit, so I found a coffee, and began walking toward the small mountain above Hadokate. I originally meant to catch a tram to the cable car which would would take me to the mountain, but it didn't seem too far to walk, and I thought it would let me walk off my mood. At any rate, walking along, I passed a Buddhist shrine, a Russian church (apparently there was some Russian settlement here aeons ago), and then discovered that the cable car was closed for repairs ...
