My trip to the Hakone mountain region started with my first ride with the famous Shinkansen train, I was excited like a little boy :-))). The second part of the trip was with a little mountain train which didn't excite me but all the Japanes tourist :-). The main reason I spend a night up in Hakone was Mount Fuji. ... just conquered. All tired but completely relaxed, the bus ride back to Tokyo was very, very quiet.
So, I started by saying that I scratched two activities from my list. Just four days after returning from Mt Fuji I attended Gion Matsuri in Kyoto, one of the biggest of all the summer festivals in Japan. Been there, done that, and ended up with over 400 pictures because I did so much more than just the festival! I'll save it for the next story, which will hopefully appear ...

... you know what you're getting! The next day we rented bikes again. We went to the Imperial Palace for a tour. For this you have to apply prior to visiting, it's a free tour. It was neat to see the inside and learn more about it. We were riding our bikes when it started to rain. We rode our bikes in the rain along the river and it was fun!!
