... taro root and soba noodles. It actually was all pretty good.
A shinkansen (bullet train) took us back to Tokyo. By this time I was just out of it, seeing as I still had not been able to sleep. Thankfully last night I got a full nights sleep so feel much better.
A reception and dinner last night wrapped it up at the hotel.
All the Japanese are so nice and polite. We are having a wonderful time!
So yea! To summarize:
Walked about 10.2km downhill (which isn't so easy on rocky surface n stuff) from Station 5 of Mount Fuji to the bottom. Took about 5/6 hours but YAY! I used my hiking boots again (count so far: 3 times!) and it didn't feel too bad so I'm pretty glad, good chance to work off all the pocky!
Stayed in an epic Hotel Ohike which not ...

Hakone, Kanto, Japan ania-maciek... 10:30am, having missed our bus and headed to the bus-ticket office. It was immediately clear that mayhem was ensuing because lots of people were in our same shoes and had missed or would be missing their buses because of the crowds. The line for tickets was maybe 30 ft long when we got there and had doubled within 15 minutes. A few buses came and left and then the bus company finally gave up on their nice orderly reservation system. When we heard “ ...

As we finished the sight seeing earlier, the tour guide was kind enough to help us to change the train ticket to an earlier schedule, this has saved us about 5000 yen as a results. Thanks to him! By the time we reached Kyoto, it was already 8.30pm. It was a tiring trip and we went straight to the hotel for rest.
... onsen as inconspicuously as possible. Very unfortunately, I somehow managed to become lost inside the changing room, attracting lots of attention whilst I desperately tried to locate the exit. I eventually asked a nearby family but they didn’t understand me and directed me to the toilet instead. After a while they finally realised what I was asking, and showed me the exit, but not before they kindly tied my Kimono up properly for me :) We were feeling pretty exhausted ...

It was easier till the 6th station, but after that, there was no point of return. We had a transient clear sky and brief view of the lake and cities at the bottom. That was the only luck that we had. Staying the ...
... in one of these. The further we ascended, the more crowded the trail became. For the first time, we noticed large tour groups climbing together. These groups were large, some around 50 people each, and they were usually led by guides shouting instructions with bullhorns. Further up the mountain, the trail was so congested that they could hardly move over. These groups were a real nuisance. I realized at some point after station 7 that many people would ...
Fuji, Chubu, Japan zsimmonsA short sleep after club Womb and the Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo, we check out our own local matsuri, the Gion festival of Yoshiwara. It's a relatively small 2-day festival, but it's fun run into so many people we know, to have festival food, and check out the taiko carts.
