Pittige, mooie en ontspannende weken
... wat luchtigers gaan doen: met de bus naar Iwakuni. Daar is een oude, hele mooie houten brug, Kintai-kyō, en bovendien een fijne wandeling door een mooi parkje, omhoog met de kabelbaan, langs het kasteel en weer terug naar beneden. Een mooi tripje voor een halve mooie dag want we moesten op tijd terug zijn voor de tandarts. De tandarts? Ja, helaas wel... De dag ervoor was mijn kies gebroken en je gelooft het of niet, maar onderin ons hotel zat een dental clinic met ...
Die Südsee Japans
... und natürlich ausschliesslich japanischer Speisekarte. Das machte aber gar nichts, denn die Ishigaker sind alles andere als scheu oder zurückhaltend, und wenn Kagoshima das Neapel Japans ist, ist Ishigaki der Markt von Tangiers oder so ;-) Und so bestellte dann nach halber Rückfrage der einzige fastenglischsprachige Gast einfach für uns mit. Erhalten haben wir ein super Sashimi und eine Art Omelette mit Belag, die ebenfalls sehr fein war...

... s! the beach itself was the usual spectacular scenery/garbage all over but i enjoyed it for a couple of hours until it started to sprinkle. worried about my laundry, i headed back to get it off the line just in time. the rain helped me decide to scrap the scooter idea. oh well. guess i'll break a limb and test out the Japanese health care system another time.
the guest house owners had us make dumplings that night. fun and tasty. dish duty was determined ...

... only wanted people to get to it from the right. eventually figured it out, gave the man his yen and found a seat. off at the bus terminal anxious to find the ferry (it was getting late), i was surprised that it was a mere block away (another map that makes things appear further than they are). was told the ferry was not running to the port i wanted (Uehara) due to weather. it happens alot so they ship you to the south, give you a free ride up and even drop you ...
Tropisk eventyr
... Japan, der er tilbage. Det vil sige, at ca. 90% af øen er dækket af bjerge med tæt og ufremkommelig jungle, og der er kun vej og beboelser rundt langs med kysten. Det var virkelig en fantastisk kontrast at opleve for os, som kom med tre tætpakkede japanske storbyer i bagagen. Vi hoppede af færgen til kvælende varme, øredøvende cikadesang og storblomstrende frodighed overalt - men kun meget få huse, ingen butikker, ingen højhuse og kun ...
