Jen here. We'll we're only 3 hours behind schedule, which means not as much sight seeing in Chicago.... :( but that's okay! We are off to Chicago, the Hard Rock Cafe and the U2 Concert. I'm sure it's going to be amazing!

... old clapboard homes, pretty lakes and rivers. My absolute favorite place along US 12 was Honor Books, a little book shop on the side of the road. No one was inside, but there were signs with instructions and prices (35 cents per book or 3 for a dollar) and a small slot for placing money. I bought 6 books and probably would have put money in the slot even if I hadn't found any good books, just because I just love the honor system idea!

... with thoughts of catching the panoramic train to Gstaad, a swanky ski resort for some more beautiful scenery. I made that train by about two minutes, buying the ticket on my phone as I stood outside the train car. The scenery was beautiful on the 90 minute trip to Gstaad, where I got off and walked around waiting for the return train one hour later.
