The US was not originally on our itinerary but, because we managed to get a cheap flight from Japan and needed LAX to connect to South America, a sojourn was a no-brainer.
After a gruelling ten-hour flight and two bus journeys, we arrived in Santa Monica. It was the perfect place to unwind, recover from jet lag and get ready for our road trip along the Pacific Coast Highway.
After falling asleep on the lounge at the hotel (like a real traveller!) I finally checked into my not too bad room. Laid on the bed at 3ish, missed a skype sesh because I woke up at 11:30****ingPM. ... Again, we arrived to a delicious home cooked meal of jerk chicken, potatoes, pulled pork, veggies, and rolls. A big, windy thunderstorm came through that night causing us to lose power...which was awesome because they lit tons of candles and Dan played the guitar. It was sooo very cozy. ... Couldn't believe how big the duty free shopping area was, like a huge shopping centre so I just had to buy something. We were walking past a store that sold alcohol and Steve and Todd must have a look about them cause the guy in the store wasn't going to let us go past without all of us trying some small cups of alcohol. Tried a couple of drinks, but we got out of there without buying anything. Found our way to the bar and had a couple of drinks before going up to board ...

Went to head home as we had planned on taking Moo to the beach again but Avie rang and said they were at the Museum so we decided to buy a pitcher of beer at The Venice Whaler, on the roof. headed home for a snooze that turned into a Jacuzzi when Mackie turned up.
