    ... fantastic, good winding roads running through great country side and in and out of lots of picturesque towns. By the time we had reached a small town called McGregor we decided to stop there for the night.

    ... Springfield is the capital of Illinois and the home of Abraham Lincoln from 1831 until his presidency in 1861. He is buried there too. We did a driveby of his home and the capital building. The KOA was about 7 miles from the highway which is unusual for them. They are usually right by the highway.     ... dogs at the RNA at home are way better! The restaurant did have lots of cool Route 66 memorabilia and a wall covered in number plates from the eight route states. We learned that the artist guy with the bus we saw earlier in Pontiac was the son of the cozy dog inventor.     ... looks! Then we travelled to his tomb site at the Oak Ridge cemetery. We all rubbed the bronze head statue's nose of Lincoln, its said to be good luck!
