Up before the crack if dawn...4am to be exact. 21 minutes later we were on the road! Yay! No one slept in the car, boo. By 6:30 we were in Iowa. Coolest rest stop ever. ... sign advertising shea butter products and healing salves for sale, so of course, Emilie asked about them and the woman brought out a box for us to look at. I ended up buying a bar of soap made with honey, lemon grass, shea butter, plaintain peel powder, coconut oil, and aloe vera.

... Twain's little town is not in how old and quaint it is; but rather, that it has obviously been flooded and mostly run down and abandoned over the year. The huge dike at water's edge speaks loudly of prior destruction.


With good planning, a good developer, major financial investment and Mark Twain's endorsement, the old town and ferry could be a charming tourist area.
