... On the west edge of Tulsa Route 66 crosses the Arkansas River via the second bridge that has carried the road. The newer bridge sits next to the previous bridge which has been turned into a tribute to Cyrus Avery, the man who lobbied for the creation of Route 66 and ensured that it would pass through his home city. Left home about 5:45. Flight from OKC at 9:15. Arrived O'Hare 11:15. The international terminal is a totally different building so we had to go out of security, ride a tram to the international terminal and go back through security so that took awhile. Not many miles today, about 185 as we have stopped many times. Now in Oklahoma just East of Oklahoma City. We are staying in an old roadside motel and are just going out to drive around the town. Today we have driven through Miami, Chelsea and Stroud. We have also come through Tulsa which is only about 2 hours away (not 24).

... was packed and we managed to get an inside seating as new Mexico heating was rising. It was already 90 degrees Fahrenheit I.e. 32 degree Celsius. Briji had the humongous breakfast burrito smothered with red and green chille. I had the calorie rich Huevos Rancheros (popular breakfast dish consisting of eggs served in the style of the traditional large mid-morning fare on rural Mexican farms) with shoestring fries. Tonight's home is KOA Oklahoma City. It is very pretty and not a motorway in sight. When we checked in however they did warn us that we are on a tornado alert so they would let us know incase we have to seek shelter.
