Charlie...Well I wrote about Charlie not so long ago. Along with Valerie, Charlie was my room mate in Toronto. She was quiet but so sweet. She would always write little notes for Val and I and leave them by the door before going to sleep, because she usually went to bed quite early. her English improved so much on this trip its incredible. Sept 19/20 - in Red Deer and wrote a 'draft' seems it has been deleted...having problems connecting with Skype this morning - just not my day for electronics!

Briefly RD hasn't changed a whole lot - this is good - lots of trees beautiful colours and wow!
is it quiet -- memories of Carling Ave in my head this is quiet!

It was a long drive from Swift Current to Rimbey but mom and I did take time to stop in Big Valley to tour the town, have a salad and share a Reuben sandwich and visit the local antique shop. It was nice to spend time with mom.

We made a quick stop at Clive and actually found my oldest brother Bob at home. We had a nice visit but we were under a time crunch as we were supposed to meet my friend Julie in Rimbey. Well, ...

Cathie and Denny generously drove me to my mother's home in Rimbey. On the road, we stopped at Gull Lake, AB to visit the old Fernie land. My grandfather, George Fernie met his wife at the water well beside what became the Fernie store. Around 1947, my father Ernest Fernie met my mother, Kay Danser at that same water well at Aspen beach in Gull Lake. Today was the first time I had heard either of these stories. It is fascinating how the tales unfold.

... There was one huge high dark cloud and many fast moving clouds swirling below. I was getting concerned about a tornado dropping down, but I think the lower system blew past quickly. I heard that hail fell North and South of Rimbey so we were in a void in the storm area. Unfortunately, some of the farmers lost their crops to the hail. I hope they were covered by hail insurance.
