Cathie and Denny generously drove me to my mother's home in Rimbey. On the road, we stopped at Gull Lake, AB to visit the old Fernie land. My grandfather, George Fernie met his wife at the water well beside what became the Fernie store. Around 1947, my father Ernest Fernie met my mother, Kay Danser at that same water well at Aspen beach in Gull Lake. Today was the first time I had heard either of these stories. It is fascinating how the tales unfold.

I had a ton of fun learning about tole painting with my friend Julie. Since I can't paint and have trouble staying within the lines, I find her painting abilities pretty amazing. She is very critical of her work, but if sales are an indication, other people like her work ...

... stars in the sky as they are usually bright and plentiful out at the cabin, but the clouds are keeping them well hidden, for a while anyhow. He does eventually find some around midnight, or at least he thought he saw some. According to Matt, they were not stars, they were the Germans, falling from the sky Red Dawn style. Ze Germans are marching. That was my favorite bit of the night.

Well thats the night, beds were hit, ...
