... heavy rain and hail warnings on the radio for the places behind us as we headed north and west. We ended up in Remer, Mi at a Motel that also has campsites. The only rooms left were smoking rooms so we opted to camp...and to cook supper...That was interesting as we have no fresh veggies or fruit because everything closes at 6...on a Friday no less, so we had to get creative...ended up with nachos and cheese and crumbled up hamburgers with ...

Got up this morning and couldn't decide if we would stay another day/night, but we did decide to stay. It was an overcast day and they are predicting some bad weather coming from the west to the east---we'd be driving right into it if we left, so I am glad we are staying another night despite the mosquitos. ... real nice ride to the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. It is known for its waterfalls and they are just breathtaking. We hiked both the upper and lower falls and took tons of pictures. ... the center of the Upper Peninsula - this way, we can travel all around during the 3 days we are here. The campground is so nice - it's a family owned campground and the couple running it are the sweetest. It's small, beautiful sites, clean/comfy and quiet. So happy we found this place. We arrived just after a heavy rain storm, set up camp before dark and rushed off the the Brewery restaurant for supper before they stopped serving. Enjoyed two delicious beers with supper, a stout and then an amber red. Next day hiked to see the lower falls and then the upper falls which are the 2nd largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. The beautiful rust and golden colour is from all the iron.
