We officially made it through our first night of the trip! After our late start yesterday we drove 9 hours up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We found a well lit rest stop that of course had a No Camping and No Overnight Parking sign. However, we decided to stop anyway and take a chance. ... MI. We stopped in Midland to worship with the brethren at the church there. It was a small group, 14 with us, but still very encouraging. From there it was about an hour more to Pam and Zack's new home in Flint Township. We were excited to be there and slept well after a busy weekend of camping, exploring, and traveling.

... We saw swans, ducks, loons, and the workings of a pretty hefty woodpecker. I think the rain kept much of the wildlife under cover, but we enjoyed it anyways. Wish we found this sooner. When we were done, the rain was really coming down pretty good so we headed back to our campsite.....it was thundering/lightening too, but it didn't keep ...
