Woo Hoo! This day has finally arrived! Mike brought my 'Birthday Present' home on January 1st and this is our first time out on the road. Left hotel Mt Vernon Il at 745! Good nitr sleep. Brrr temp 37! Try to get home?? We r 1 hr from st louis (600 mi to home from there). Driving thru IL AND IA! At 315PM turned onto 35 notth! Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We found one right on the lake. At dusk, a family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.
